We are looking for ideas for a first dance song.

We had been thinking about a big mushy love song but we don't want to be too obvious and also we can't really think of one that means something really special to us.

We're currently thinking about All The Lovers. It was out around the time we got together so we have memories of listening to it and watching the video together early on, and I like that we could kind of slow dance to the beginning and then invite our friends onto the dance floor for the big banging synthy interlude to get the party started.

Although we probably wouldn't copy the underwear orgy in the video

You should release the actual dove from the video to begin the first dance :disco: and then have the actual horse come on stage later for a kii!

Someone split this into a new thread please. All those broken links are frying my brain.

Is there a mashup of the Abbey Road slow version going into the regular one?

You know I had actually thought about that but if I recall her vocal is a bit off-putting on the Abbey Roads version, especially at the beginning which is the bit I'd probably want to use. She's a bit whiney compared to the perfect crispness of the Aphrodite version

There's a Live Lounge version of All The Lovers as well, if that would work better.

I love that song! Great choice

Also it is so long, your guests must have been singing it for DAYS :D :disco:

The idea is that there’s a slow bit you can do a dance to and then it all kicks off and everyone joins in!

Love Hangover really is a great choice :disco:

All the lovers is quite a difficult song to actually dance too?

Iggy I'm sure it's just some misunderstanding somewhere, but I'm still waiting for my invite to arrive :(

We had Caravan of Love by The Housemartins (not my choice) as our first dance followed by Take Me To The Clouds Above (my choice) for our second song :D

I came here to leave an "All the lovers" tag because who in their right minds would use a song that makes you sound like a SLAG for their first dance and then I saw your first post :D

I mean it's a 13/10 song but I really don't see it as a wedding song AT ALL.

I'm never going to get married so you can have my first dance song for free:

I'm a cynic I know (but the opening verses are quite sweet).

If I was put a gun to my head to choose a more traditional song I'd choose For All We Know, the Carpenters version of course

It's ALL about the "love may grow" in the last verse of the chorus, of course (and the heavenly harmonies).

One of my friends had the Carpenters as their first dance.

Please Mr Postman :D

I SORT of had this thought as well, but I ultimately I don't think I see the song quite that way.

Still think we should get all the AUNTS etc. recreate the video.

Part of my proposal speech contained excerpts from "Finally Found" and so I have been in contact with Celena Cherry from the Honeyz and she will be singing at our wedding. :disco:

Thank you! Giving these a listen!

I see All The Lovers as all the lovers throughout history, as opposed to all my many past flames :D The irony being that Tisch and I have been together since we were 21 so we don't have MANY (that I know of )

AMAZING. I might see what Solid HarmoniE are up to that day. They'd do it if threw in dinner I'm sure.

WHAT, are you for real?

Update: I just looked her up and see she does do weddings!
