Influencers

You know Jiva has already sent that girl at least 3 death threats

I suppose this is probably the thread to talk about YOUTUBER DRAMA?

Has anyone been following the Tati/James Charles/Jeffree Star/Shane Dawson stuff? It's quite morbidly fascinating...

My thoughts on it are 'I don't think this woman knows what the word GASLIT means' and how is Shane Dawson a beauty vlogger? He looks like a swollen toe.

Gaslighting is the latest term that gets thrown around so much these days and half the time it isn’t even accurate. It’s just the current ‘woke term’ like cultural appropriation has been recently. I’ve no doubt that the inaccuracies and overusage of the term dilutes the incidents where these things do occur.

Isn’t this from last year? How is it still going on?

BECAUSE! Tati who originally made the video about James Charles is saying she was influenced by Shane and Jeffree to make it and so is turning on them and is also in fear for her life! :o:o:o

As I understand it, this all started again because Jaden and Jada Smith called Shane Dawson out for a video he did years ago where he pretended to have a wank to Willow (circa Whip My Hair so when she was a preteen), so there's been all sorts of stuff flying around since then.

There was also something about videos he used to make with a puppet of a little girl that were weirdly sexual? Or something

Isn’t he a racist and conspiracy theorist? Just chuck the lot of them in a fire.

Well, we’re talking about influencers in a thread about influencers.

I was a subscriber to Shane Dawson's channel around 2011 I think and he used A LOT of Black stereotypes for comedy. He was obviously a lot younger and not mature enough to understand the implications, but in cancel culture that doesn't matter one bit. Any thread you can pull at is enough.

Influencers in general seem to be awful, but the whole make-up and beauty vlogger sphere seems to be particularly ridiculous and full of drama.

I don't really agree with this. What's wrong with addressing stuff you've done in the past? I think a lot of people talking about these things in most cases, rather than a baying mob, are fans from different communities who feel let down by how someone they look up to is behaving. There's nothing wrong with holding people accountable.

Of course. But cancel culture by nature is volatile and hysterical. Holding someone accountable only works when you investigate everything on a case by case basis and within its context. In his early days, Shane Dawson was a silly teenager doing cheap skits and just wanted subscribers.

"Holding him accountable" would be calling him out and helping him become mature and educated. 'Canceling' careers for any and all mistakes just creates fear and bloodlust.

You want people to not be racist because they're educated, not because they're scared.

This one that's just died along with her unborn child at 8 months pregnant...! I don't know who she was of course but how AWFUL.

What happened? There was another influencer couple a few years ago where the guy died after being shot in the stomach by his girlfriend as part of a YouTube prank :zombie: it's all A BIT GRIM.

Oh god why are they still releasing pre-scheduled videos of her? That's in very poor taste.

Just looked this up. Apparently their 3 year old daughter was watching.:gross:

My 30 Rock BINGEWATCH has provided me with a PERTINENT Jenna Maroney QUOTE for this occasion:

"Do you remember my tattoo mishap? It was supposed to say 'Peace' but they wrote 'White Hooker' instead."

My favourite thing about these ludicrous gay thirst influencers that pop up in here, is that when I click on their Instagram profile I have one particular friend who will WITHOUT FAIL already be following them :D
If I was your friend that friend would be me.

Is this the same friend who randomly added me to Facebook a few years back? I see him pop up everywhere too. :D

Surprisingly not! I did find that a bit odd, but he's harmless enough and you'll always get a happy birthday :tongueout:

I'm in an instagram group with mates and they are always posting gay instagramer pics in jest, like above. But now my algorithms have gone crazy and whenever I go to the search function my entire feed is just full of dead-behind-the-eyes male mannequins posing in the pool of a flash hotel with their bits out :(

why would you use instagram to fap over anyway? Surely everyone knows that real porn is free now?

The plumped lips, the hair extensions, and the fact she even photoshopped her DAD :D
