What I will say is that this does give me some RELIEF, as it doesn't sound like the kind of thing angling for a near-jury win that I think would've made this year game, set and match.
 
We really shouldn’t be worrying about an appreciably less good rip off of a song which got 42 televote points in last year’s final. Shouldn’t.

Put together the Dutch jury result and the Israeli televote result last year and you do get worryingly close to a win... in a year that had a very, very low overall points bar for what won in any case.

It shouldn't win. But we don't quite yet have an obviously overwhelming contender for the win that means we can completely rule it out.

To be honest, much as I’m not on the boycott train and I will obviously be happier if something else wins and the Contest, y'know, survives - my feeling at this point is that if it's going to happen, it's going to happen.

The EBU have made their bed, and they deserve every bit of public opprobrium if their craven behaviour leads to them having to deal with this as the winner. Let them own the mess they've made.

Yes all this and to be honest, if Israel “only” come 3rd in the end, it won’t exactly be a massive sigh of relief moment anyway.

I’m at the point where I feel like the only way we would potentially see any change is if they do win and the following year is an absolute fucking shitshow…

even i who support Israel more than anyone around here will tell you that Hurricane and New Day Will Rise are NOT it. this year's entry is worse than both.

Unicorn, however, IS a classic. Israel needs another banger like that for Eurovision.

Unicorn wasn't really that much of a song, and the last two were absolute dogshit, at least this is slightly tit shaking even if it sadly never fully embraces it.
 
That Shiri Maimon cover on the previous page is a bit stunnin
 
I enjoyed the performance of Unicorn a lot. The song didn't match it.

I don't remember Hurricane at all, and New Day Will Rise is just tepid at best.

Taste is subjective. Hurricane has been streamed almost 33,000,000 times on Spotify, so clearly a lot of people like it.
