Israel-Gaza War

I have quite a lot of Israeli friends through Eurovision and pretty much all of them have posted something similar.

I’ve had to stop following Amy Schumer. There is a terrible echo chamber going on on Instagram right now and it’s bewildering how they don’t see how stupid, hypocritical and ignorant they sound.

The invasion is any day now right? It's going to be complete and utter fucking carnage.

I’d like to know what Amy Schumer think about this, the sick fucks

This is REALLY bothering me. Could both sides please STOP killing children? Most people don’t care about your self-aggrandising religious and geo-political nonsense, they just want to live and be safe. Clearly too much to ask for Hamas and the Israeli government.

Updates:

- Israel bombs convoys of refugees who were moving south, as per their instructions, and then blames it on Hamas ‘booby-trapping’ the roads :manson:

- It posts fabricated pictures of bloody crime scenes to justify its current genocide; Twitter users rightfully point out that dried blood doesn’t go pink :manson:

- It claims that Hamas fighters left behind pristine, detailed pages of their plan to wipe out every single civilian…in Arabic so precise it can only have been Google translate :manson:

- an Israeli PR instructs its citizens to show ‘Westernity’: ‘Unlike the Gazans, we look and live like Europeans and Americans. It is very important to emphasise this in texts and images so that people feel close to us. People identify with those who are similar to them.’ :manson:

In the meantime, scores of Palestinians are now being murdered by settlers on the West Bank. More than 45 Gazan families have been wiped off the registries COMPLETELY. An 8 year-old Muslim boy was stabbed to death in Chicago.

The fact that Israel wants to expel as many people from Gaza to the Sinai desert as possible (not a new plan btw, it’s wanted to do that for years) should lay bare the colonial genocidal ideations of its government. You know, just for those who were in doubt.

The Western complicity in all this is honestly making me feel quite sick, but I really don't know what else I expected.

I’m going to write to my Labour MP tomorrow. He had to delete a picture he posted at a Palestinian Solidarity stall at the Labour conference and has been very conspicuous in not saying very much. What’s the point in having representatives that don’t actually have a moral compass?

I know why it's happening, but it's just so fucking insane. Every interview with a politician or prominent Western leader or mainstream media outlet is just so... maddening. Deaf. Ridiculous. How are we letting them get away with this.

I cannot get over people quote tweeting the Palestinians who left their last wills and messages on Twitter and letting us know they were killed in the bombing.

You can tell that Labour are in utter lockdown about this. They're paralysed by fear of what happened at the last election. Another anti-jew conspiracy, which is what the media will portray it as, would potentially knock them off course for the next election.

It's fucking loony. The system, as ever, is broken.

Totally, and I feel like as a consequence, they have totally disenfranchised a huge number of people.

Starmer’s palpable terror of being labelled an anti-semite allowing him, a human rights lawyer, to justify collective punishment on national television may well come to define his legacy the way the Iraq War defined Blair’s. And he isn’t even in power yet. Utterly bonkers. And so depressing.

I know I’m not voting for the liberals here, not that it matters but fuck them.

Americans are fucking demented, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that they think to show Israel support they have to be violent towards "the enemy". that's very sad though.

I read about Israeli donors at some Ivy League university withdrawing funding because they hosted a Palestinian literature festival (the only one in the US) and apparently that's anti-semitic. is it lack of intellect or hunger for conflict... I can't tell anymore

Palestinian officials confirmed the Rafah border crossing from Gaza into Egypt will be open for foreign nationals including roughly 600 Americans trapped in Gaza.

What a privilege, eh, that the worst thing that can happen to a Western leader is that his complicity in war crimes will be no more than a complication in his legacy - if that.

But have we considered that the children might be no angels?

(:DAF: at the serial killer comment in particular)

One of the main reasons the likes of Trump and Boris irritate me is the way they speak to people like idiots - because in most cases it works for what they need and they have no shame when it comes to lying to get what they want. But when all politicians are doing it you feel so helpless. Like, we know what's going on. Just say you're willing to kill innocent people to keep the status quo. Don't try and twist the narrative and expect me to believe it.

If someone could point me to a good book/article that explains the influence of the weapons industry in the unwavering support of all the absolute horror that the West lets successive Israeli governments away with, I'd be grateful.

Sort of watching the Commons discussion, unimpressed by the points about defeat, but this guy (not Rishi, the Scottish guy at the timestamp) had quite a thoughtful speech. 💭

It really is important to consider civilians on both sides of these truly sad events, and for aid not to provide means to defeat or villify, simply aim to support those in need. 🙏🏼

The media are really treading on eggshells right now. maybe understandably. everything is super inflamed and nobody wants to open themselves up to any further criticism.

I think the clear shades of anti-Islam rhetoric across the western media in its coverage of this story are awful, and at the same time I can understand why a cartoonist accused (not for the first time) of incorporating anti-Semitic tropes into a cartoon would have to be let go (even though actually the commissioning editor of that opinion cartoon, who green-lit it, should be the one whose job is on the line).

"we spoke about several demonstrations across Britain during which people voiced their backing for Hamas..."

are they aware that this acknowledgment/apology actually comes off as a reiteration of the original false accusation? :D CLUMSY
