This is the thing - in general, people understand that you do not define the people of a country by their government. It is easy to reject anti-Semitism but condemn and refuse to support the Israeli government. Equally, you can be pro-Palestine and condemn the slaughter of teenagers at a music festival. But the media don't like that - their YES OR NO narrative and fondness for smears and false equivalence renders anything other than outright flag-waving manipulable.
 


Found the first section of the News Agents today interesting, about the role of Social Media in conflict, particularly with the hospital bombing/explosion last night.

This really is the best news podcast around. I struggle to listen to The Rest is Politics. I find Alastair Campbell rather jarring at times.
 
So Rishi has turned up. That'll really turn the tide of the inevitable all out war.
 
Israel also doubting the death toll.

The information war is pretty grotesque.
 
I think it’s useful for all of us, even those of us with positive MPs who’ve said all the right things, to keep up the pressure for an immediate ceasefire.

I wanted to come back to this:

- they just bombed the third oldest church in the Holy Land
- they bombed a 1400-year old mosque
- they bombed a refugee camp
- they bombed a UN refugee school
- they arrested a three year old child in the West Bank to pressurise his father to hand himself over

Israel has bombed hospitals in previous campaigns. They’ve poisoned wells and lied about it for 70 years. They killed at least 7 journalists, including shooting Shireen Abu Akleh last year, which Israel blamed initially on Palestinian militants until the evidence became irrefutable.

I think more and more people are beginning to understand that the conflict isn’t really so complex, but I would urge you to have those emotionally complicated conversations with your Israeli and Jewish friends who are sympathetic to Netanyahu’s actions, because they are being done in their name.

I don’t know how Piers Morgan became the outlet for pro Palestinian media but here we go (I guess a click is a click for him and it’s all money and attention)

It really is starting to feel like the PR/information war side of this is shaking out very differently than during previous incidents, to me at least.
 
Saying that any anti-war protestors will be shipped to Gaza on buses (to face death rather than arrest even) is a hairline away from full-on Holocaust trains rhetoric. And speaking of the Holocaust, the discourse I've read in some circles that because of it, whatever Israel does now is beyond reproach, is appalling. The actual victims of the Holocaust have far more in common with Palestinians today than these Zionists, and I can only imagine if they lived would be horrified to see what's going on. Truly barbaric.
 
"The children of Gaza brought it on themselves" - what, by being Palestinian? They're not even hiding it.
