It must have been Thursday, but it’s over now...

I've just been on the phone to my mother and apparently at my father's 70th birthday do everyone is going to have to CHANGE PLACES between courses. She claims this is a WELL-KNOWN THING but I've never heard of it although let's face it I DON'T GET OUT MUCH. It sounds like a right FAFF to me. Have you ever come across such CARRYING ON?

Well I CERTAINLY HAVEN’T. What is this? Musical chairs with COQ AU VIN on the harmonica?

Mother says it's so you don't get stuck next to ROBERT who is a bit LOUD or some BREXITY OLD SCHOOL FRIEND and also "So you don't run out of things to say". I'd have thought that BY NOW MOTHER would have realised I'm SOMEWHAT LACKING IN THAT DEPARTMENT AT THE BEST OF TIMES

As if work dos aren't bad enough without being FORCED to mingle :zombie:

The only way I could avoid sitting next to someone who is a bit Brexity at a family gathering would be to hide in the bathroom most of the night and then leaving as early as possible. Who knew I've been practicing for Brexit my entire life?
