It: Welcome to Derry

Not sure if this NEEDS to be a TV show but I'll check it out.

SHOW ME THE FUCKING CLOWN

The first series is set in 1962 and if it gets renewed, the second will be in 1935, with the third being in 1908 (going back through history every 27 years).

So first episode came out this week

Not completely terrible

Without too much spoilering, the two main attack sequences seemed more ruthless and to-the-point than most of what came in the movies.

Which is going to make Movie Pennywise seem even more DEBUFFED retrospectively. This new version wouldn't be wasting time letting itself be gently TAUNTED to death by Jack Scully from Neighbours.

Oh a thread. I'm enjoying and only wish I had it all to binge through, but I've never seen the movies so can go straight to them after.

I'm still enjoying this much more than I expected

But I am absolutely howling at the implication that

the US military want to enlist Pennywise and fire him into the Soviet Union :D

It feels like the plot of a South Park parody episode.

I have very much enjoyed the Kersh / Madeleine Stowe shenanigans.

Albeit BAFFLED at

how Kersh still thinks the thing that glowed in the dark, SHAPE-SHIFTED multiple times, and ATE A HUMAN GIRL in front of her is genuinely dear old Dad.

I have only just learned that Madeleine Stowe is 67 and WHAT THE FRICK.

She must have been joining Pennywise in drinking the blood of young children.

I really enjoyed the finale even if it did leave me with unanswered questions.

I also really enjoyed how they tied it in with the recent movies. I don’t know about the time travel aspect but I guess that’s how they are going to get more seasons maybe

I didn't love all of the movie links really.

The Ingrid / Beverly scene, good.

I can't recall if Marge was acknowledged at all in Chapter 1, or if we can assume she may have died before then. But we know Leroy was still kicking around, and that he would have known It was due back in the 80s. And didn't clock when all the murders started again? Or just chose to do nothing knowing his grandson was a likely target?

And as always throwing in omnipresence or time travel just presents plot holes. Targeting Will and Marge makes a lot of sense except for why Pennywise spent most of its time titting about in cinemas, instead of prioritising them from the very start. And if Pennywise knows of how it meets its Chapter 2 demise, surely there are a gazillion other ways for it to avoid that outcome? Don't eat Georgie when you know that's what brings Bill into play? ACTUALLY go straight for the kill with the "Losers" instead of teasing them with comedy lepers and menstruation? Work on your SELF-CONFIDENCE so you can't be bullied to death?

What I did love throughout the series was that Pennywise was FAR more threatening than it ever was in the movies. Many of the horror / attack sequences were far creepier or more brutal than before.

Ah yes, the chapter one bit. Well, I hope we get more Stowe, but not really sure we can top her clown drag.

I found letting a school girl speak at your boy's funeral a tad ridiculous given the speech went way beyond her years.

I'm more keen to watch the movies and feel this could simply have been a standalone series.
