his new album is in Italian and features labelmate Natalie Imbruglia on the song Ultime parole. I wonder if her new-ish timbre will be dipping into Italian also? :o

Miles Kane and Delilah Montagu also featured.

 
With women of a certain age, singing in Italian automatically adds 10 packets smoked/day to the timber.
 
I like Jack but Bada bing, bada boom with Miles Kane sounds pretty nightmarish.

I'm a bit disappointed that his previous dabblings with new wave and disco influences have largely disappeared with the change in language. Lots of ballads:



Apart from Ultime Parole, my picks are the Carla Morrison duet, Credimi, Malinconia and Splendida. It does dip dramatically after Natalie's appearance.
 
He's on Saturday Kitchen atm looking rather dashing.
 
After two number ones I see this album charted at number 43 so he was not able to take his audience with him.

I know he is enough of a name to pop up at the Sanremo duet nights but how well known is he in Italy? The chart positions suggest not so much as in the UK.
 
I like Jack but I gave the new album a quick listen through on Friday and found a lot of it quite bland and very MOR. It feels more like where he was with Sleep No More.
 
He's very much into that classic 80/90s European soft rock sound. I think it suits him and his melodies are so, so good. I think it's only "bland" if you think this kind of music is bland, which is a personal thing of course. He certainly doesn't attempt to reinvent the wheel, but he's so, so good at what he does!
 
I guess it was maybe inevitable he would move away from the more European pop sound of his last few albums, but I found them more interesting. I also wouldn't have minded more of an Americana influence like his older stuff.

Same. I preferred his foray into Americana too. Suited his voice better. Some of his soft rock stuff is OK if a bit twee, but generally I just don't think he brought the songs here.
 
He's #1 in the midweeks, but not by a massive amount. Any of the top 5 could end up in the top spot on Friday.

Holly Humberstone is #2.
 
It will probably be Olivia Dean or RAYE again. I can't see Holly adding that many more sales over the week.

Good for Jack taking a decent amount of his fanbase with him though. I see this is on his own label and it has been a while since Europiana went number one.

Yep! After the Italian album, I was worried he may have alienated too many fans, but it looks like he's still popular enough!
 
The title track is great, but the rest didn’t make an impression on me on a first half-spin.
 
but the concept of being concerned for Jack Savoretti's commercial prospects has tickled me somewhat :disco:
