JADE - That's Showbiz Baby! (Sep 12)

I love this. I'm getting Nicola meets Donna Summer with those 2000s indie disco chaos moments dropped in.

Of course there is a Diana Ross/Supremes sample… and I really like Silent Disco, it’s needed at the end to wind down

Before You Break My Heart is kind of awful. I didn't enjoy at all, that pitched sample really grates and it's the whole chorus.

Self Saboteur, Lip Service and especially Unconditional are great though. I'll get to the rest soon but she's a great popstar. Plastic Box continues to slap. I hope the album goes top two at least.

It's REALLY good :disco:

I was slightly hesitant when I realised it was so frontloaded with the already released tracks - that the second half of the album may suffer and drag (on the first few listens at least), but it's really not a problem.

Natural At Disaster is probably my least favourite after one listen, but it's obviously interesting for other reasons. Not totally sold on Glitch yet, either. But all the other tracks hit hard after one listen.

She's made a genuinely compelling album.

Unconditional is the one, it really should have been the second single with Plastic Heart third.

Totally need to create a tracklist with Gossip in there somewhere as well. I just need to listen to it again and see where it will fit.

Enjoyed my first listen but don’t see myself returning to this too often

Still, good for her as it’s going down well and I wish her longevity if this is the career path she chooses

I'm obsessed with the production job on Unconditional. So many :disco: moments.

And that first ah, ah, ah, ah is just PERFECTION

Self Saboteur is great too and I definitely hear the Tove influence on Lip Service. Agree that Natural at Disaster and Glitch feel like a bit of a dip on first listen. There was an involuntarily eye roll at the opening of Before You Break My Heart but she gets away with it, as a whole it works and I love the pipes. Silent Disco is just really lovely.

Mine was from one of the independents she is doing signings at -

I really rate that she is doing a number of independents alongside the few HMV signings. She’s absolutely beautiful in real life too.

£34.99 in HMV Argyle Street, I didn't look at the picture disc. Probably just pricing high so that they can claim it's a wonderful bargain when they add it to the 3 for £66 "offer".

So I’ve read that it’s an interpolation of herself singing it as a child :disco: She’s literally duetting with her younger self… this woman :disco::disco::disco:

She talks about it here as well:

Interesting hearing her talk about the inspiration for all the songs... apart from Natural at Disaster for which they sticking to the safe territory of vocal range :D

So pleased for her. Will give the full album a listen later. Where is she in the mids?

#3 behind Ed Sheeran and 21 Pilots. Sophie is at 4.

She has signings all week so she should hold up, it depends if Sabrina can make up the gap with streaming. I would say top 5 is a lock which I think is really a success.

she seems to be stable enough on streams to hopefully stay at #3 by Friday
