JADE - That's Showbiz Baby! (Sep 12)

I wonder if she'll have the typical gay interest act PLUNGE next week

I suspect not, or not too dramatic a one at least

Fantasy is really lush. I really like all of the album, besides It Girl. and Before You Break My Heart is growing on me a bit but I do find the chorus reductive. Unconditional is fabulous, probably top 3 here...

Headache, Glitch, Self Saboteur and Lip Service (love the transition between those last two) are excellent album tracks. you can hear that she put so much work in and even the tracks that don't quite come off speak to her being pretty ambitious and a student of pop.

she should keep recording and get more new material out there next year. if there's a support slot or two on a big pop girl tour I can see her starting to make a splash outside the UK.

I hope she gets number 2
from the way the gap has closed to almost nothing in just a day it seems like she will! unless twenty one pilots pull some sick scammery. do they have stans?

Yes but they were pre-ordered out the wazoo. They did 21 different vinyl editions internationally - one per pilot, one assumes - but I don't know how many of them were available in the UK.

I'm ready to rate

It's saying delivery tomorrow for me. Strange.
I'm glad you said that because I went back and it's showing that for me as well and the CD has gone up from 10.99 to 12.99. So I held my nose. And used the Moopy link.

Gave this a spin this morning - is it Headache that sounds like early solo Gwen Stefani. Before You Break My Heart stood out too - good use of what could have been a cheap and tacky sample.

I am coming round to thinking Plastic Box is her best song and usurping Angels :o

Yes Unconditional and Plastic Box are definitely my top two, with Fantasy next.

I absolutely recognise that Angel Of My Dreams is fucking great but I am in a place where I don't need to hear it for a while.

Is Before You Break My Heart on some playlists? It is outperforming its spot on the arse end of the tracklist.

I've seen it mentioned on X every day since the album dropped, and people tweeting like if it was the standout of the album; and I saw this today.

I think people are paying attention due to the narrative of the sample?

This really is very good, having just had a spin.

Before You Break My Heart is the standout- filtered disco and a classic sample, go figure. Can’t believe it’s “buried” so far down the track list…

So is this a SINGAL? It should be the next one

Just seen that is her niece in the video as her younger self. That's sweet.

It is all about those disco pipes on Don't Break My Heart. Coming after my two least favourite tracks on the album it is a proper pop thrill too.

Stop In the Name of Love takes me back to being a child. My mum always played this and the nostalgia still hits hard and gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. :shy:

Which would have been enough to get her to #1 for a substantial number of weeks this year, including Lorde and Renee Rapp.
