JADE (Thirlwall) - Angel of my Dreams

Not that it's a competition, but the video for this has surpassed in around 12 hours the total viewing figures for Perrie's latest single which has been out for over two weeks.

What is Perries new one? Where she takes her short off?

Well, I had to watch it twice to make sense of it! I didn't twig first time that oversized bloke in prosthetics wasn't just a security guard/bouncer but was meant to represent the music industry.

It's good. It's also a fit with what seems to be catching at the minute so maybe we'll see a proper hit.

That’s a pretty good start. Given there’s three of the big ones hitting ACR this week I imagine that puts her about #7/#8 taking that into account?

Little Mix debut solo single day one positions

#12 Jesy Nelson - Boyz (244,134)
#13 JADE - Angel Of My Dreams (331,608)
#15 Perrie - Don't Forget About Us (249,752)
#54 Leigh-Anne - Don't Say Love (130,715)

So position-wise, about in line with Jesy and Perrie, but her numbers are quite a bit up on all of them.

record of the weekend on Radio 1 - i don't know where that translates onto the main playlist though!

You know what, Espresso is still the masterstroke of 2024. But this fucking runs close doesnt it?!

What a song. What a launch. What a WOMAN :disco:

There’s so many hooks in this song my mind doesn’t know which one to repeat over and over :disco:

Well this is quite the earworm. I'm not even sure if I like it, but it has been stuck in my ear all day.

that's a great hold. she should have a top 10 debut on lock

Just to continue tracking the comparison to the other LM solo debuts

Day Two

#17 Jade - Angel of My Dreams (245,461)
#17 Jesy - Bad Boys (179,009)
#34 Perrie - Forget About Us (165,213)

Leigh Anne's Don't Say Love dropped out of the Spotify 200 on her second day.

Looking at her website I don't think there are any physical formats, are there?

And I don't think Angel Of My Dreams sticker sets count towards the chart :(

no CDs yet. RCA are notoriously bad with physicals, most RCA acts don't get a vinyl out in time for their album first week either. they better not try that shit with Jade...

I think they’re hoping they won’t need the physicals to boost the chart position in the first week and the physicals will come later.

Leigh-Anne sold something like 7000 physicals at 99p each including postage. So basically giving them away. She would have charted in the mid 30s instead of 11 without them.

Perrie sold just short of 2,000 but they were £3.99 each. She would have charted at number 11 instead of number 10.

I’m glad they aren’t - it’s all a bit sad of a move when you have to rely on the crazy fans to waste money on something they’ll never listen to just to artificially inflate one weeks chart position. It’s not the 90’s.

The fact she is holding so well means she should make it top ten without any physical which is a much healthier sign.

Yeah, where it charts this week isn’t something I’m too interested in… more-so how it holds up over time. The jury is out on that one. I imagine it’ll be popular with the kids on TikTok though? 🤷‍♂️

I hate the fact that I like it but it’s just SO addictive.

Yes, I think the fate of the others has largely proved that creating that first week, well not entirely FAKE exactly, but certainly misleading, chart position for one week doesn't really make any difference to the song's fate - it'll either stick as a hit or it won't.

IT'S. NOT. FAIR.

Pretty much all I have had in my head all weekend. I haven't even listened to it that many times

What makes this thing even more delicious is that I don’t think anyone expected this amount of success. I think the majority of people thought it would be a cute song but would be too out there to connect with the general public, and I’m sure Jade would have been okay with that. It’s still early days yet but this is just phenomenal.

She did an interview where they asked her to describe her album in three words. Chaos. Cunt. Drama. :disco:

First look will be skewed by her strong downloads on Friday and Saturday, but she should still be #5-#7 tomorrow in the full update I’d imagine. Possibly higher as the video seems to be doing good numbers.

Hopefully top ten on lock, particularly if it floats where it is on Spotify and continues up Apple and Amazon,

It’s not a shock though really is it?

She was always the most talented of Little Mix. I agree with others that Tears by Perrie is a fantastic song but Angel of my Dreams feels IMPORTANT.

I’m close to South Shields the town where Jade is from and all weekend this was blaring from the post office to the working men’s clubs. QUEEN OF EVERYTHING!
