I thought Dave and Aitch were the same, but I’m guessing they are not?

I don’t know who Central Cee is or any of his songs. And I follow the charts!
 
I still dont know who the Last Dinner Party are, have I been living under a rock?! they've had a number one ALBAM?
 
Dave I think is genuinely rather respected in his field, whereas Aitch gives off ALI G vibes

Look at the list of #1 albums over the past couple of years. I'd be amazed if they are the only ones.

Well i've just seen the lead singer looks like a youngish Carol Vorderman
 
To be fair, Sam Fender won best alternative with only one single released in 2024 (on his own) so not that unfair for Jade to take her one.
 
Love that JADE won and she delivered thee performance of the night. Absolute stun.
 
I am going to re-watch the perf our Zen posted in a bit to see if its good or not
 
THE PERF was so great it almost made me emosh. she's definitely been awarded quite early with no album out yet and a mixed bag of singles, but the performance really showed why she deserves this. the theatrics of it. she's camp!

Ok that is utterly batshit, and very on brand. Quite messy, but in a great way. She really is a great performer.
 
She’s got a similar hunger (desperation?) but Jade can at least…sing!

I do love old Geru but it does seem a fever dream that she was the hottest pop prospect at one point :D

I think they moved it a few years ago because they thought it would get better viewing figures.

I really should have started a thread instead of posting mainly in the what are you watching thread as it did get quite a lot of chat. Maybe an @Moderator could make one or is it too late?
 
Re: Jade's perf - I love her and her theatrics, but for me it was a bit too messy and she was a bit lost in it at times. If you want to see how to do big campy fun but not at the expense of the overall performance, Chappell Roan's Grammy and VMA performances are a perfect example. Both deliver spectacle without the star needing to disappear for chunks of time while the next 'big' bit of the performance is lined up.

I just counted, because I'm PROBABLY on the SPECTRUM, and Jade's not on screen for 50 seconds of the performance, which is daft. I thought the direction/camera work were quite lacking in places too, which didn't help.
 
That’s a good perf if a tad too ambitious/oversized for that song? I mean it’s a nice song, but 4 acts and all that staging?

I think @funky said it best. She did exactly what she wanted to do. It was messy, it was kitsch and it was EXACTLY ON BRAND. I think comparing her to others on how it should have been done is missing the point entirely.
 
The song is messy af anyway. The performance just embraced it fully.
 
Agree with Finn. The long pauses just had me thinking something had gone wrong.

Not to mention the shot of some stage hands lugging the puppet show prop off the stage

And sorry everyone but she just doesn’t have star quality
