A sore one for me. Spent hours and hours with her Radio 1 programme in the 80's - she was the bridge between the shiny poptastic daytime Radio 1 and the late nights of Peel and Kershaw, when Radio 1 still went off at midnight. And that bridge was exactly where I stood at that time. She played the Smiths all the time, often having the first play of any new single. I first heard The Fall on her programme. The The, The Mission, Billy Bragg, even the later period Madness...absolutely my fare in the mid to late 80s. And of course, an absolute treat on TOTP with Peel. How sad.

Oh this is super sad to hear. I used to love listening to her on radio 2 in the early hours when I couldn’t sleep during my teenage years
