jark.fm 9 >> disco du soleil >> live!

the fucking SAX on Coffee in the Morning! jesus christ!

I need to make a separate playlist devoted to house tracks with HOT BRASS SECTIONS.

this closer came out TODAY. SG Lewis said More Than a Woman is one of his all time faves and someone gave him the stems so he DID HIS THANG. :disco:

thanks for joining babies! RJN, Funks, hope you catch up and enjoy! this disco groove has been just what I needed!

now get out of my FUCKING HOUSE.

Yes thank you Madame @Jark 😘

I‘ve spent most of it sat eating food then in a food coma hence the lack of posts, but it was a nice soundtrack for imminent death :disco:

Thanks for making this @Jark! I will listen to it all in order at some point and comment, probably tomorrow

I put on the Don't Call Me Baby remix out of curiosity and I'm very into it so far

I love Chromeo, they very much have a sound but they do it so well. I'm not sure if I have heard this Green Light remix before but it is a marvellous version.

The Oliver-MNDR track is excellent too.

the next edition of this will be DEEP HOUSE btw, and it may be the last so I'll go ALL OUT! (...for an audience of 3 :basil:)

Sorry @Jark I got caught up at work and this went completely out of my head but I promise that I will listen. Reading the comments so far I know it's going to be AMAZING :disco:

@funky did you never listen to this then :oi: I did this whole thing AT YOUR REQUEST!

it was GENUINELY on my to do list for tonight. I had a busy week with work, annual plans and all that. All done now, off til Tuesday :disco:

@Jark

Had this on for the last hour or so :disco: my thoughts:

08 Moodyman - Taken Away
- pretty sure you had a moodyman track before and I remember saving it; love the deep and moody stuff. Great opener
10 Hard Feelings - Holding On Too Long
- oh we're going here already? OK! One of the best dance tracks of the year so far
08 Jodie Harsh - No Sleep
- one of the best surprises of the year really, it uses all the commercial tropes but it's really funky, I love it
10 Kraak & Smaak - Sweet Time (Yuksek mix)
- I know all their stuff at this point I think and this is one of their absolute best!
08 Izzo Fitzroy - Hope You Can Wait (Hot Toddy mix)
- oh hello! Not familiar with this at all. This is very nice. Saving this.
08 Honey Dijon - Downtown
heard a few different versions of this already, not sure if they're official. They seem to be getting more coverage than other dance acts lately, but nothing has massively stood out yet. I like the direction though, we need more handbag/ballroom house.
08 Cats n Dogz - Modern Romance (Dusky mix)
- I love Dusky, he/they have the midas touch on production. I love how this turns into something else when the piano slowly comes in on the breakdown.
08 Hadiya George - Hot Flavour (Godmode mix)
- And we cool it down. This is different. Really liking this as well. Not a note wrong so far!
08 Don Blackman - Just Can't Stay Away
- oh we're just going to shift into 80s post disco just like that are we! I don't know this but it's one of my favourite genres and an instant like. Can't go wrong. Remind me to share my 80s R&B playlist, it's full of deep cuts like this.
08 Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby (Mousse T mix)
- an oldie but goodie! Mousse T have made this sound fresh even though it's not a huge departure. In fact as much as I loved this at the time it's quite dated now, so this version is better
08 Roisin Murphy - Murphy's Law (Cosmodelica mix)
- I haven't heard this version. I don't think there is a bad version of it.
10 Adam Lambert - Roses
- very familiar with this, one of my faves from last year. Such great nu disco. More big artist need to explore it really.
07 Purple Disco Machine - Hypnotized (Roosevelt mix)
- lovely production on this, not convinced by the vocal. Still good.
08 Lorde - Green Light (Chromeo mix)
- well I didn't know this existed! It actually really works.
09 Oliver - Chemicals
- think I introduced you to these right? Such a fantastic album this was, can't wait for their next one. This sounds a lot like Chromeo's Bad Decisions.
08 Phantoms - Lay With Me (Satin Jackets mix)
- I see Satin Jackets, I click. This is quite tame but it's still really nice. More of an opener. Very poolside / Poolside sounding.
07 In Deep We Trust - Basen (Tensnake mix)
- wasn't sure about this at first but it grew on me as it went on. A nice diversion.
10 Deep Dish - Stay Gold
- oh GOD. What a fucking anthem. This is iconic. I love the instrumental and the vocal version with EBTG equally (normally a vocal on a track like this would be murder but Tracey's vocals glide over it like butter and she deserves all the credit for that). Deep Dish are in the dance hall of fame, without a doubt. And also not an OBVIOUS track to choose from the archives of the best dance tracks ever, so great choice! I love how it sounds so peaktime dancefloor. Sweaty 3am carnage.
08 Dua Lipa - Hallucinate (Mr Fingers mix)
- when I saw Dua Lipa was following Deep Dish I questioned your sanity :D but this is a bop! A great reimagining here, never heard it before.
09 Channel Tres - Sexy Black Timberlake (SG Lewis mix)
- I wondered when we'd get to Mr Lewis! I didn't know he'd remixed this. I prefer the original - my favourite Tres track - but he has not ruined this by any stretch, but given it a different vibe. Can't go wrong with these two.
08 Dam Swindle - Coffee In The Morning
- a deep/handbag blend here, I'm not familiar with this. The breakdown is the best part with the jazz chords and sax. I thought I was getting the first average track but nope, this slaps.
07 Bee Gees - More Than A Woman (SG Lewis mix)
- I'm not convinced by this choice for a remix, I know it's one of his favourite tracks but the Bee Gees have so much better to work with. A suitable closer though.

Amazing! What I love about your setlists is that you never submit to throwing in wall to wall anthems - nu disco, post disco, deep house is so IN right now and you embrace it all. I bow to you.

I will definitely try not to be getting vaccinated for JarkFM #10 - your playlists derserve my hyperbole :disco:
