It's often featured on 'greatest albums of all time' lists and rankings, so does it live up to the hype?

Too overwrought for me. Despite his talent being undeniable, I was always more impressed with his looks.
 
There are some GREAT highlights for me, but sometimes it tests my interest which isn't good for a ten track album. I haven't listened to it in awhile so I'm going to give it another listen today before I rate it.
 
I think overwrought is a very apt description. He was a great vocal talent and Grace is a decent album (his rendition of Hallelujah is pretty stunning) but I find some of it a bit unremarkable.
 
Oooh, I listened to this twice today, it's better than I remembered. There seems to be one dud in the bunch ("Corpus Christi Carol") but the rest of the album is very good.
 
I've noticed a review or two that said "So Real" was a lowlight, I really like it.
 
We need one more vote to make this eligible for the all time Moopy album chart.
 
I would need a relisten.. but I liked it sorta... his voice is technically perfect, but I was wanting to have sex with him more. Most beautiful man ever. People on his board said James Franco should play him in a biopic.

I'll get back to this, as that chart seems hard to update.
 
His voice is incredibly sexy as well as technically perfect, the album just ACHES in such a pleasurable yet non-try hard way. The thing is, despite it being constantly on those 'credible' best albums of all time charts and the like, the album does sound genuine and unassuming.
 
Still a great album. The odd thing is that time has rendered it a little more conventional than it was at the time, possibly due to how influencial he was on the generation of bands that have followed. Jeff Buckley was one of those people who could hold an audience transfixed just by singing a song, a quality even more rare in contemporaray music now than it was then.
 
I have been listening to this album today and getting wistful over Jeff Buckley and his lovely sparkly jacket from the album cover, and you know those little bits in songs that just hit, well this moment from 'Last Goodbye'...

I just randomly pulled a deluxe cd edition out of a bag of CDs I need to list on discogs to sell, came on here and spotted this at the top of the list.

How STRANGE
 
I adore Last Goodbye, plus what I guess are the obvious ones (Grace, Hallelujah and So Real). I cannot remember anything else from the album despite owning back in the late 90s. Of the stuff we got postumously, which I gather wouldn't have been the 2nd album's released form, Morning Theft was absolutely lovely. I think his vocals woul go down very well nowadays as clearly so many have tried to mimic him. Whatever he would have chosen to do next, there most certainly would have been a scattering of absolute gems - at the very least.

“Lover…” randomly went viral a few months ago, not sure what prompted it. It was close to debuting on the Hot 100 and charting on
bubbling under but since fell off
 
Classic album, but I think "Everybody Here Wants You" from the second album tops everything on Grace.
 
Lover… debuted on the Hot 100 this week, after weeks of bobbing around on the bubbling under chart. It is his first entry on the Hot 100.

wiki says it’s TikTok, I don’t really get it either but I’m all for it
