Um. Yeah. They do.

I'm in New Zealand, which is quite literally in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, and I play WBT at my Part Time work and 80% of customers sing along or lip it. Even the class I teach are all 15 year olds (7 when WBT was big) and even they know it. If NZers still know it, I'm pretty sure that still makes it memorable.

Also, in January I went to some gay karaoke club in Chicago and sung it and EVERYONE knew the lyrics. Even the Madonna fans.

Cher was ill with Epstein–Barr virus and chronic fatigue after Mermaids/Love Hurts, and the easy money of infomercials (as she couldn't do much more) and selling Gothic tat really ruined her image for a while, and arguably they fucked up It's A Man's World by giving it an Rn'B remix on most of the tracks for the belated US release. Plus, her first film in a while was rubbish, not to mention her face. In the UK it was better: Love Can Build A Bridge was a high profile number 1 in 1995, both Walking In Memphis (massive radio play) and One By One were decent hits, and the other singles went top 40 with no videos and not much promotion. It wasn't a hugely successful album compared to before, but it was not the flop it's made out to be at all. But yes, in the States she came back from the dead.

That wasn't the definition of a teacher. It was a description of yourself. You are just one teacher. You are not the same as all the other teachers, although some might be similar. Cwej really needs to rewrite a couple of chapters.
 
Anyway it's QUITE CLEAR to see this INTERNATIONAL #1 HIT is PRETTY MUCH LOVED by the GAYS, whatever deluded #24 Mariah nonsense they choose to FIRE OUT.

My original Cher point was referring to the RELAUNCHING of a previously successful diva career on an international scale. Both of which have so far followed kind of similar trajectories within the context of their eras.

Control Myself (with LL Cool J) in 2006 was a #4 hit in the US and that was her final Top 10 appearance (At least over there) until On The Floor

ODDLY ENOUGH, J-Lo is probably about the only thing that brings me together with VoR (not that he'd ever acknowledge it!)
 
I had glandular fever twice and there wasn't much of a gap in between, but I was merely pointing out that at the time she couldn't really work, passed on some high profile projects and done the tacky ads as a quick way of earning money without exhausting herself and became a laughing stock as a result.

I'm not sure where the hell you work but it's fondly remembered in the way that the likes of 'I Hate This Part' by PCD is in NZ. I.e. by a few gays and a select group of 20's females. It's hardly an NZ CLASSIC. Heartbreaker, however, was a #1 smash :disco:

Anyhoo, 'On The Floor' is a fantastic piece of dance-pop-sampling-trash and remembered as that. It's not game changing but I don't think it needed to be. Gave the bitch a few more million and an extra few albums.

I'd say it's more of a general dancefloor-number than a gay-classic anyway. I hear it far more in random pubs/bars etc than I hear it get wheeled out by the gay bars (since it left the chart anyway). Having as much airplay as it did meant it crossed over to the public rather than become a gay classic.

It's also less camp than Believe, and I couldn't see it being mocked on Buffy either. Believe is more special though of course.
 
The closest I can compare it to is 'I Like It' by Enrique, just a bit bigger. Gave them each a global smash hit, an unremarkable selling-but-best-they'd-ever-get-in-2011 album and the license to churn out singles for the next ten years. But neither career was dead to begin with, just not on the scale they once were ten years prior.

One of them wasn't glandular fever then. Glandular fever = infectious mononucleosis. You can only have that once. It is extremely rare for it to recur; in all likelihood, the second infection was due to another virus that had infectious mononucleosis-like symptoms, but it wasn't actually due to Epstein Barr Virus.

I like On The Floor because it includes one of my favourite lines in music/life rules: Pick your body up and drop in tha floor!

Having said that, I think the chorus is weak.

I won £100 singing We Belong Together at karaoke a few years ago. I'd spent all my wages on alcohol in the moments leading up to that moment so in many respects, Mariah Carey saved my life.
