Jessie Ware: I Could Get Used To This & Superbloom

THE QUEEN OF QUEENS HAS DEIGNED US WORTHY OF ANOTHER COLLECTION OF PERFECT POP SONGS! REJOICE AND PRAISE!

I am not ready, but also, I am so ready.

good song... but a first single? that chorus isn't doing a lot.

She's living and luxuriating:

I was slightly cool on this on first listen but it has already grown hugely. She sounds absolutely gorgeous and that big fat disco keychange is everything.

It’s very “Spotlight” and that was a lead single. It’s not flooring me like other Jessie bops but it definitely sounds like a grower.

What a weak song to kick off the campaign with

I see it’s written by a couple of Xenomania stalwarts. Not that you’d know! A snooze.

Isn't it pretty much standard these days for the 2nd single from an album campaign to be the big hit?

It wasn't that long ago that gays were all like 'omg I don't like Disease' before Mother gave us Abra.

I don't know if the fact that it does happen sometimes means it's now standard!

The other thing that bothers me is that the lyrics seem a bit reductive. She’s normally a great songwriter - even when she’s just singing about parties and sex it’s usually quite creative. Maybe I’m missing something though - I’ve only listened once

Calm down huns, everyone releases a shit one first!!

I think labels want longer campaigns as they know albums can fizzle out quickly in the day and age of TikTok etc

Harry gave us lights up as first sangle from Fine Line when he had Watermelon Suga up his sleeve
So yah

But this brings us to a separate discussion where an albums first single was clearly never intended to be its biggest hit
The best example is Its Like That - great as a curtain raiser and introduces the concept of Mimis emancipation but We Belong Together is waiting in the wings. Obviously it was going to be a big hit hit but it became even bigger and translated into more albam sales arguably because it was the 2nd sangle.

I like this but yes is it an opener like Free Yourself? No. But the way she describes it is that its a opener to more substance/the theme on the album, or at least, I am HOPING SO.

B-List R2. Do R1 touch her these days?

What if she HAS got used to this, and will be really fucking boring from now on? :(

Yeah its nice but its not QUITE hitting the spot in the way some of past stuff has

It’s pretty funny to me that she did all this for her video coming out

Wow so negative, this is exquisite! Much more What's Your Pleasure than That Feels Good the latter of which I never got on board with so I'm glad she hasn't gone further in that campy direction I thought she might.

Her VOICE sounds gorge. It's really putting me in mind of Spotlight (a Tisch WYP fave). Get those 10s of sales and Radio 2 B-List slot Jess! :disco:

She looks absolutely stunning in the video but I was hoping she'd change up the game a bit visually. Her videos have become a bit samey and stale - basically the setup is usually a somewhat stationary Jessie surrounded by what looks like the same troop of dancers. Rinse and repeat.

Love the song though (just wish she hadn't resorted to using Gen Alpha lingo in the lyrics).
