Desperately Seeking Susan a) is really good, b) was a bonafide hit and c) was one of Barry Norman’s favourite films. Well perhaps not c), but he loved it.

It probably has done WORSE since its release cause it gets lumped in as a “Madonna film”, but it isn’t really- she has very much a supporting role.

As for Madonna’s pre-Evita roles, she’s good here, but also in Dick Tracy, A League of their Own and the admittedly rubbish Dangerous Game. Basically in a smaller supporting role.

EDITED:(

Well, it's over guys.

Has any DC movie (post-Snyder) performed well at all? I See they keep releasing all these flops: The Flash, Aquaman 2, Suicide Squad 2, WW 2 and I don't think they'll spare this one :(

The bad reviews are actually making me consider seeing this. Like, are the people saying it's dogshit the same BORING MEN who said the first one was a MASTERPIECE?

Is there hope that this one is FUN FOR THE GAYS in the way the first was fun for the straight incel crowd?

I don’t think it’s fun for ANYONE but if the incels hate it then there might be something there.

Yes , that’s my exact thought.

I have a feeling the gays are going to hate it even more.

“Let’s make a musical but let’s making it plodding and morose and make sure that nothing actually happens!”

Weren’t the film festival reviews all saying she was the best thing in it but wasted or have I made that up?

Joking aside I’m really not a Gaga hater (these days) and found her to be decent enough in A Star Is Born, but she really was actively TERRIBLE in House of Gucci.

Are you kidding? She’s at maybe the Who’s The Girl stage. She’ll be doing an erotic thriller followed by a sports comedy next, but not before a Broadway play, and then a comeback in a film version of Love Never Dies.

:basil:

She does need to get a move on if she wants that EGOT. You've already got an Oscar (for music), Gaga, TREAD THE BOARDS!

Yeah, she wasn’t terrible at all in House of Gucci. She was good but saddled by terrible direction and a ludicrous (but obviously camp) script.

Yeah but it was just to answer your question about post Snyder.

If you include all Batmans, they’re actually still on a good run.

08 Batman
09 Batman Returns
06 Batman Forever
01 Batman & Robin
08 Batman Begins
10 The Dark Knight
08 The Dark Knight Rises
09 The Batman

Not counting any of Ben Afflecks work, which was the Justice League franchise, not Batman :)

Well, the best bits are in the trailer
(the first one). Gaga has about 30 minutes of screen time and she's EASILY the best thing about this. Quite a few walk outs, the couple behind me weren't aware it was a musical. :WellThereWeAre:

And it's good that the ending is
in fact the end, with no possible future.

Pattinson's Batman did perform well but I forgot to add that most of those I mentioned are sequels! Batman was their umpteenth reboot, mind. Harley Quinn's solo movie doesn't count because it was practically released for free during COVID :(

The Batman is due a sequel too, and there are plans on making Pattinson the official DCU Batman so, there's at least that.

11 Batman
10 Batman Returns
06 Batman Forever
?? Batman & Robin
03 Batman Begins
05 The Dark Knight
02 The Dark Knight Rises
03 Joker
09 The Batman

I hope the ?? score for Batman & Robin is because you realise it cant be rated on a basic numerical scale due to being an important piece of iconography, and not because you haven’t seen it!!

I have seen about 15 minutes of it. Never quite got around to sitting down for a viewing :(
