Yeah I'll say "Cherish" may have been that, but its production and tone is more sophisticated than the 80s glitz of "Causing a Commotion" or "Spotlight".

I think I first became fully aware of Causing a Commotion on one of those cheap not by original artist  CDs, and even in such a form I was very taken with it. The semi-elusive status (to a child in the early nineties) of not being on TIC or even a proper album just made it more appealing.

And now, not getting through the door on the club hitz comp, just too cruel...

I've never heard the smouldering angst of Scheherazade before. That one is definitely a loss, what a haunted dream those backing vocals are. It's like Who's That Girl meets Kim Wilde's It's Here.
