Daisies is alright with a nice beat switch-up near the end. but people are saying it's the best song which tells me I don't need to hear the rest.
 
this will do well I'm sure but I really don't know how his fanbase hasn't moved on. he doesn't have much of a voice, he's not that cute anymore... what is it? just nostalgia for a simpler time?

Sorry, but this is frankly all too relatable, so on behalf of fading 30-something guys the world over I will stick my neck out on the line for St. Biebz of the Bops and pray that he saves pop like it's 2015 all over again! :disco:

EDIT 1: I didn't register that this had been released until reading the thread a bit more closely, so I've started playing it during my break out of curiosity (NB: I haven't actually ever listened to a Justin Bieber album) and... I quite like what I'm hearing. :shy: The first two tracks in particular are very good. Lord help me.

EDIT 2: Okay, I reached an interlude where he gets some brother to repeatedly big up his hood credentials, culminating with the mortifying: "Your skin white, but your soul BLACK, Justin, I promise you man!" - and promptly decided to hit the stop button, retract my prior statements, and conclude that yesteryear's increasingly-decrepit party boys should be collectively put down for the greater good. I'd like a vegan Sunday roast with all the trimmings for my last supper plz. :(

It’s a decent album though overall
 
he had a couple of huge smashes including that Major Lazer collab that arrived just on the cusp of the streaming era, so in a way he was lucky - for a while these were among the most streamed songs on Spotify and made Justin feel super relevant to the point that even follow up albums without big hits have amassed huge streams.

and yet he's not made a song in these last 9 years that's had any real cultural impact, despite the numbers. who can actually hum Ghost (2 billion streams)? everyone knows Sorry.
 
What Do You Mean and Sorry back to back pretty much justified his existence at the time, but I can't say anything he's done in the ten years hence has struck me at all.
 
I love “Friends”, which sounds like it was meant for a Purpose follow up that never materialized.

I agree about the limited/lack of enduring cultural impact of the early COVID era albums, but there was a legitimate string of hits on Justice album. And that Stay song is (bafflingly) one of the biggest hits ever in the US. It was kind of the beginning of the end of the charts here.

Were there though? I mean okay that Yummy trash thing was viral on TikTok but I don't think he had proper hits at least no here in the UK or Europa?

They were. Almost all of Yummy, Intentions, Holy, Anyone, Lonely, Ghost, Stay, Hold On, and Peaches made the US and UK top ten in 2020-2022 and year end charts. I think only two of these narrowly missed the UK top ten. Again, not saying they are classics of any kind but aside from the hiatus the last few years he’s remained a chart force.
 
Also surely calling one’s album Swag has the very opposite effect

Anyway - who are his fans? Surely they’ve all outgrown his shite ?

Cold Water and Let Me Love You still get some Pipo replay, and I’m not even sorry cause they’re very good pop songs, and honestly, it’s hard to mess them up.

I still crack up at how he managed to wedge himself onto Billboard’s #1 with Stuck With U (feat. Ariana Grande, who was clearly just there for the paycheck) during the pandemic, when we were all vulnerable and not thinking straight.
