Darling, some of us are waiting for the recaps that were promised to vote. Someone else had to list countries and songs because he couldn't be bothered, don't call us lazy, thank you. So far I'm a bit disappointed after the big production we were supossed to have. :rolleyes:

I did too, but I was waiting for the recap to organise my points, I don't know how people can do their rankings so easily, for me is a nightmare to decide if X song is better than Y but not as good as Z, I just don't know! And I don't like do it randomly. I cut down BT's dance anthems list to 55 songs a few days ago, but is mission impossible to rank them, I don't know how I'm gonna do it. :vomit:
 
I put them in a rough order of preference and then listen to them in that order, fine tuning the ranking as I go. Dance Anthems is very tough though yes :( thank fuck we have a few more days for that...
 
Actually, I liked some of the songs quite a bit more upon re-listening. There's a couple that were easy to dismiss as boring on a first listen but that really grew over the next couple of tries.
 
I don't hate everything, but put it this way: whoever gets my 12 will be very very lucky to have done so. I might just do a series of coin tosses.
 
Chile - what an opener! Not heard it before but everything about this is going down extremely well with this jury!
Slovakia - picked up slightly around the halfway mark but overall it's not really grabbing me
Austria - oh this is just great FUN! As a supporter of Gilead in FdS and the Rigga-Ding-Dong-Song in ASFM, I don't think it'll be a surprise that I'm on board with this
Jamaica - I don't care how well known a song or artist is in these things, that won't affect my judgement, this just isn't particularly my THING
Japan - not gonna lie, I groan instantly when I see a song over 5 minutes and at this point I just want more bangers like Chile and Austria
Ukraine - like Little Big but not annoying! I have a couple of friends who are majorly into the Ukrainian music scene so I think I'm now conditioned to like stuff such as this
Mexico - the fun and sexy video 100% helps to elevate this. Are they like the Mexican version of Same Difference?!
San Marino - another song with a beat that I'm bopping along to! So far I'm being SPOILT FOR CHOICE, and I've come to appreciate Italian music more over the past couple of years
Liechtenstein - is this German? Not the nicest sounding language but I'm kinda liking it, a solid entry that is neither a top or a bottom
Colombia - a big miss with the Jacques jury
Finland - WHAT IS THIS. I can't decide whether I love it or hate it, I certainly didn't need to see his Sinitta moment! I hope he shows up in Eurovision at some point.
South Korea - I don't enjoy k-pop enough to obsess over it day in day out but I always enjoy it having a place in these contests, this is just so cute and fun
Luxembourg - the format of the video is odd but fascinating, it kept me watching and the song itself is quite cute
Yemen - this bangs a bit too! I appreciate the diversity and that this is a song I wouldn't likely find or seek out myself
France - doesn't do much for me in the verses but picks up quite a bit in the chorus
Peru - I love how upbeat this semi has been, that's going to give me a lot of thinking to do when it comes to voting
Sweden - I can't believe she's so big in Sweden yet Wiktoria can't get a hit outside of Melfest
Estonia - it doesn't quite reach the heights of Rockefeller Street, does it? But it's some solid filler
Turkey - oh I was hoping it was going to be the two shirtless guys bursting into song, they remained the stars of the video for me regardless. A good song to end on but I'm not as into Turkish pop as Latin American/Spanish or Italian so time to evaluate how it stacks up with the rest

I've only given three songs an outright NO! I think it's a strong semi, I have six or seven that I know I definitely want to vote for and the same amount that will be competing for the remaining points, gonna have some tough cuts.
 
I have listened through once, and can’t remember much but we definitely have a few standouts. Will listen through again and send my votes to Kala before tomorrow’s deadline.

And may I remind people that I sent one of these songs at MOST, possibly none in this semi. I may have enjoyed a load of this shit but someone else sent it!
 
I think the only way for me to save face and preserve my chart run is to withdraw. As a bonus I won’t need to vote.
 
I have listened quite closely and pass these verdicts so far.

01 CHILE - Alvaro Soler - Sofia - This is a good opener and is one of the most commercial tracks available. It has a folky quality to it that puts it a notch above its contemporaries. Alvaro seems to know its a good track too, and that enthusiasm can be heard if you listen hard enough (by comparison, I still think about poor Molly, Frankie, Una, Vanessa, Rochelle forced to sing and sell 'Gentleman' when they woulda known it was the worst kind of nonsense).

02 SLOVAKIA - Fallgrapp - Zrkadlia nás - this is nearly there, but feels quite constructed in its feeling and energy. By contrast...

03 AUSTRIA - Caramella Girls - Caramelltanzen - ...this song always gets me because it unapologetically wears its heart on its sleeve. All of homo sapien's problems could be solved if we could just get the world leaders to do a synced caramelltanz. Not since "Don't Bother" by Shakira have I been so moved.

04 JAMAICA - Grace Jones - La Vie En Rose - To be fair, this is an enjoyable effort. I wonder if the poster behind the composition was truly going for gold, however.

05 JAPAN - Nami Shimada - Sunshower - This is my kinda vibe. The bass and the tempo have sucked me in and I know we're gonna be friends for life. Dance music like this has a way of telling a story unlike any other genre.

06 UKRAINE - Vremya i Steklo - Troll - competent but heartless. I enjoyed this nevertheless, but wouldn't trust it down a dark alley.

07 MEXICO - Gaby Noya & Tonny Boom - Sin Autotune - ...whereas this is all heart really. There's a quiet triumph in this song that makes it seem like a winner regardless of end ranking. I'm also a massive fan of autotune @tinabarrett - you'd love this one.
 
No I am taking my time, although I do think this deadline is VERY tight for key worker girls like me. I will try my best
 
Listening to these songs again, they're definitely not as bad as my earlier vitriol made out. Definitely a couple of keepers from this lot.

However you all still have horrible taste in music.
 
Upload it to YouTube! You shouldn't have copyright trouble if you're just using clips of the songs.
