It's likely she's going to be the #1 song on streaming, the #1 on sales, but #2 on the overall chart in the UK tonight, isn't it?
 
I may very well have misunderstood how the rules work, but I think Harry Styles may go onto ACR next week, so she could get the number one if she maintains these levels for another week and nothing else appears.
 
I think it's happened on a few occasions that the overall #1 hasn't been #1 on either sales or streaming, but has it happened where a song being denied has been #1 on both before?
 
I don’t understand how it’s mathematically possible.
 
Sadly I think it’ll be too little too late even if Harry gets hit by ACR. Her lead has started to dip over the last few days.

I've not checked the figures (or God forbid tried to work them out), but if she's running him reasonably close this week, she must have a reasonable lead if they are competing on a level playing field.

Because she has to stream twice to his once in the overall chart for conversion to sales totals.

But the streaming chart only counts total streams, not converted to sales ones.

Hope so. The big worry is that there might be a big new entry to deny her and I am no longer remotely capable of looking at the new releases list and working out what that might be.
 
You just know bloody Ed Sheeran will have been studiously tracking Harry's ACR status to "unexpectedly" rush out some DRIVEL tomorrow

I really don't know. I thought originally that it had to be applied for by the record label. But that kind of contradicts the word 'automatic', doesn't it?

That would be this rule:

“(ii) Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and CSC approval.”

Admitedly, this is based on a 2017 version of the rules. Not sure if a more up to date version is online.
 
Ah - here’s the latest version:

i) Automatic Reset – a track within the Top 100 on ACR and which is within 3 years of release can automatically return to SCR if it’s streams total increases by 25 percentage points greater than the streaming market change week on week. For example, a track with a week on week variance of +14%, in a week where market variance is -11%, would be automatically reset.

ii) Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and/or CSC approval.
 
Never a good sign when an official document has grammatical errors.

Despite its continuing presence at the top of the chart, As It Was wasn’t No.1 on digital downloads or streams this week, trailing some distance behind Kate Bush’s resurgent Running Up That Hill on both metrics. In fact, the only measurement on which As It Was was more popular was CD sales, where its one trumps Bush’s zero – and yet, there it sits, No.1 again.

Back on the chart for the first time since 1985, when it peaked at No.3, Running Up That Hill’s current popularity is fuelled by its prominent and frequent use in Season 4 of the Netflix sci-fi/drama series Stranger Things. No.8 last week, Running Up That Hill now surges to No.2 (a new peak), with consumption of 44,739 units, made up of 5,863 digital downloads, 38,875 sales-equivalent streams and one 10-inch picture disc dating from 2013. It is, of course, encumbered with ACR, otherwise its combination of 7,470,792 premium audio streams, 1,029,666 ad-funded audio streams and 657,694 premium video streams, when added to its digital sales, would give it a total of 83,613 sales, relegating Styles to No.2 and providing Bush with a richly-deserved second No.1, more than 44 years after her first single, Wuthering Heights, topped the list.

Running Up That Hill’s renaissance is also reflected on the album chart, where Bush’s chart-topping 1986 compilation The Whole Story leaps 76-19 (2,729 sales) – its highest position for eight years – while RUTH’s parent album Hounds Of Love is back in the Top 200 at No.84 (1,431 sales).
 
Ok now I'm annoyed about that chart rule. That is absurd. It IS number 1. Worse than Deee-Lite missing out, but at least their rule was changed after. I wonder what stood in Gala's way - probably Burtons running out of v-neck fitted black t-shirts: the slow drip-feed of restocks explains the exceptional chart run.
 
Can we do something please? Maybe if we tell Harry Styles? Can we @ him? Honestly he's a sweet guy

They didn’t say no physical sales, they said none on CD, whereas Harry got one. I’d be quite interested to know where that came from.
