Kate's Hot Mess Hits TONIGHT 8pm

I don't usually like music videos with sound effects intruding on the music, but the wedding punch up fits quite well with the ambience.

Jamie xx - All Under One Roof Raving (2014)

LAST SONG. I suspect no-one except @big ron and @funky might appreciate this, but I chuffing love it. The steel drums and whatever that scratchy thing is in the second half. <3

OMG you were a DJ! WHERE?

The long dead Y Bar on Essex Road. We never got paid (which was the cause of multiple arguments instigated by me) so I always thought, well, fuck you, I’m playing whatever the fuck I want :disco:

One of the young people from my work told a story about having been told off for singing the Khia song at school. A quick bit of mental arithmetic and the question 'weren't you nine' revealed the deficiencies in her upbringing.
I have the same story, from her perspective. Khia was a favourite at my primary school.

Of all the playlist finales, this one most clearly evokes the certainty of the lights coming on to reveal a horrible provincial nightclub. I think that's a compliment.

Discovering the person you've been snogging for the last hour is a fucking UGGER and swiftly coming up with an excuse not to go home with them.
That was the intention so I'm pleased it CAME OFF!

And thank you @Kate. A highly enjoyable night with some great songs that I haven't heard for years.

well you'll just have to wait and see WON'T YOU

speedrate coming up..

Trans-X - Living on Video (1983)

YES! This was my Kalavision entry. Please now enjoy the English language version with the video featuring strange and VERY 80s French-Canadian people.
THIS IS THE TITS. What a BANGER!

06 Daft Punk - Around The World - not my fave but I always appreciate their creativity
09 Estelle - American Boy - catchy AF and surprisingly aged well
05 Labrinth - Earthquake - don't like the R&B/electro mish mash stuff generally but this does sound great in a club/festival
08 Timbaland - The Way I Are - I had no idea you liked this stuff :D forget what I just said above because this is FAB
06 Metronomy - The Bay
05 John Grant - Black Belt
02 BC Camplight - I'm Desperate - not my thing
06 Charlotte Gainsbourg - Sylvia Says - not heard this but on 1st quick listen I like
05 Everything Everything - MY KZ UR BF - I don't hate it
05 David Bowie - Love Is Lost - but IS IT ART EDDY? I lovve Bowie but he's just too obscure for me sometimes
05 Hot Chip - Huarache Lights - I really like some of their stuff, this isn't my fave
99 Solange - Losing You - quite literally the greatest song in the history of ever. In all seriousness, it's between this and one other song for the best song of the century so far for me. Just can't cope with how perfect this song is.
08 Marving Gaye - Sexual Healing (Kygo) - Kygo can be samey but sometimes he gets it spot on. Love this
06 Planningtorock - Jam Fam - sounds like early OMD or Ultravox
06 Broken Bells - After The Disco - not heard this one but I like these
06 Pet Shop Boys - Undertow - not my favourite PSB but good. PSB have really grown on me over the years, they were always TOO GAY for me growing up but I've learnt to appreciate their talents
06 John Maus - Head For The Country - not heard this before. Sounds very now given it's ten years old (in that it sounds like it's from 1981)

cutting some of the indie stuff out cos it's taking too long :oi:

07 Crystal Castles - Not In Love
07 Bamboo - Bamboogie - what an ODD choice for a late 90s funky house banger :D bit commercial for me but fun
08 Gusto - Disco's Revenge - now this is more like it
06 D'Menace - Deep Menace

just really surprised by some of your choices! Part 2 coming up...

10 Bizarre Inc - Playing With Knives - STONE COLD CLASSIC
11 3 Jays - Feeling It Too - really? :D I didn't think anyone else knew this. Classic late 90s funky house. Reminds me of my first holiday in Ibiza, Sonique played this song while DJing in my first night there and I LOST MY SHIT. The club version has a really long breakdown which makes the song even better
02 Guru Josh - Infinity- this remix is SHIT but the original is FABULOUS
07 Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder - Dannii's always been a guilty pleasure.
-1 Mr Oizo - Flat Beat - Oh kate.
02 Misteeq - Why - I hate UK Garage
03 AKira The Don - Clones - I don't know her but this sounds like the electroclash that was big in the noughties
08 Mylo - Dr Pressure - reminds me of early London days. In fact I'm sure we danced to this on a moopy meet in dodgy Escape bar
03 Numero - Hit Pop
08 Deep Dish - Flashdance :disco:

ffing a couple... don't like early/ugly Calvin Harris

10 Ce Ce Rogers - Someday - I mean. Just yes.
00 Transx - I Hate this shit :D
08 King - Love & Pride - new wave tastic
07 Tears For Fears - Change - I LOVE TFF. Not as familliar with their really early stuff but I love all their stuff, honestly
05 Electronic - Reality - I'm sure this would have gone down well. I like these but this one is more cheesy for them
07 Kim Wilde - Never Trust A Stranger - Kim has aged really well
08 Simple Minds - Promised You A Miracle. I also LOVE Simple Minds. Again I prefer their peak mid/late 80s stuff to their earlier stuff but I like anyway
07 Erasure - Who Needs Love - I always think of Erasure as the best example of a band you don't pay much attention to but you put their greatest hits on and you like every single song.
03 Tinih Tempah - Pass out - No.
-- Like My Macarena - what have I just watched. I can't even rate that
07 Jamie xx - All Under One Roof Raving - I prefer some other stuff but I approve. Great way to wrap it up

Overall just a real inspired HOT MESS of a playlist with some real surprises. Fabulous!
