Kath and Kim

I was having a random youtube session and managed to find this, which I'd somehow managed to NEVER SEE BEFORE:

I've worked my way through the first three seasons since posting that.

Not sure if I've seen the Kountdown Specials or Souvenir Editions they also have. I know I have seen Kath and Kimderella and Da Kath & Kim Code, but only once each way back when, so also looking forward to those.
 
Did Kath and Kim really originate 'muffin top' as a slang term?
 
I think it's been around forever (down under anyway), but they certainly brought it back into the mainstream
 
I love Kath & Kim and have been rewatching it on Netflix - I’m midway through series three.

Kim is undoubtedly the star, to the point where I wish she was a real person in my life; the more she bullies Sharon, the more I love her. The Kath scenes I love the most are where she’s alone and we’re hearing her inner monologue. Kel flits between irritating and endearing. Brett is only useful as an outlet for Kim’s strops.

There is something I need to address though: the flashback episode where Kim and Sharon are at school plays havoc with my need for timelines to match up. Kath confirms in series three, episode one, that Kim is about to turn 25, meaning she was born in 1979. Therefore, how on earth can she have been a teenager in the 80s, listening to the ‘Uman League? I wish they’d been consistent with the timeline and had Kim and Sharon dancing to Informer by Snow at the school disco.

I haven’t seen any of the specials/movies as yet, so I have added them to my list.

That is a classic episode. I love how Kath is initially wary of the drag queens and wants to escape, only to be joyfully dancing the can-can with them to what can only be described as a demo version of Wham Bam by Candy Girls (featuring Sweet Pussy Pauline no less) in the next shot.

And I don't find it's generally a laugh out loud programme as a rule. Just amusing throughout though.

I wouldn’t say it was overrated, I think it’s earned its place as a classic gay-interest comedy. That said, it is niche - sadly even my boyfriend doesn’t get it!
 
Also, sometimes it’s the small quirks that can be the most satisfying, such as the fact Kath makes a point of addressing every waiter by their first name. It’s not especially funny, it’s just fun to spot.
 
Kylie Minogue as Epponnee-Rae was an inspired decision, although she is far too beautiful to be Kim and Brett’s child. The only line I think she failed on the delivery of is: “my marriage is over mum... O.V.A.H.”.
 
I am now a few episodes in to series four and you can tell it’s run out of steam. Shame.
 
Oh no, the episode called Roots where Kim suddenly turns into a huge, relentless racist felt so weird to watch. Matt Lucas turning up as the Fat Fighters lady in disguise felt so off too. So much in that episode that just wouldn’t fly today.

Damn, I wanted a re-boot as per the rumours that circulated a few months ago (well, it was confirmed to be coming back, but I just assumed it was a full series).

Evidently, Kath, you have STACKED IT ON for this so-called reunion due to your effluent loifestoyle! BERKERK, MUM!

This show is the centrepiece of my whole life, really, and Kim Craig née Day is the greatest comic creation of ALL TOIME.
