Kath and Kim

MY red flag is Kim being rich?? :( K&K was literally bulletproof for the first 3 seasons riffing on the regular lives of hetrosexuals, Kim suddenly becoming rich seems a bit..grasping for ideas to me?
I'd love to see an actual take on regular Kath & Kim 20 (?) years later. ANYWAY I haven't even seen the new footage yet so sure it's amazing :)

Shot on GREEN SCREEN?

The first of a two-part celebration of the show aired on Channel 7 on Sunday evening, and as it turned out, it wasn’t the fully fledged reboot we were hoping for. Part clip show, part blooper reel, it also featured the original cast returning to Fountain Lakes for the first time in years. Well, a version of it: the Kath & Kim house, devastatingly, was demolished earlier this year, meaning the new material was filmed using green screens, giving the clips an uncanny valley quality. It was nice to see the characters sort of in situ, but couldn’t they have just gone to Fountain Gate instead? I guess you really can’t go home again.

The 10 minutes or so of new material felt shopworn, with jokes about catfishing, gaslighting and Marie Kondo – although given the combined power of the wits involved, it’s not entirely impossible that these stale gags were meta commentary about K&K being always slightly out of date.

I did rewatch season 4 recently, and the episode where Kim becomes a racist ASIDE it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered.
A bit overly-silly and reliant on guest stars but there were some decent moments scattered through.

It says I can't watch it because it was played too many times (!!) but I downloaded it in no time, it better be good.

Just this once, and only because they are hard to find elsewhere, I'll pop out of retirement and post some links to this.

Oh HOW WONDERFUL! I do hope these still work later in the week when I have time to watch.
I just did a QUICK SKIM and the green screen looks fine.

The green screen was crap (the material itself was mildly amusing at best, with Kath being the strongest character as usual) but the icing on the cake was a lot of the clips being recycled DVD extras :D

I've been without Netflix for a little over a year now, and for all the new seasons of Sex Education, Bridgerton etc, and all the new stuff, it's genuinely not being able to watch a couple of episodes of Kath and Kim before going to bed that I miss most.

I just watched the whole of that, and now feel really envious of anyone discovering it for the first time.

I still discover something new every time I watch it though. In fact I'm not sure that I'd ever picked up on cantaloupe/can't elope before.

Blown away. I have been watching this show obsessively on and off for nigh on 25 years and I've JUST learnt that Damian the jockey is played by none other than Jane Turner herself! I had zero hinkling!

I simply must go and put some footy franks in the oven and do a 48th rewatch of the whole thing.

I’m currently rewatching it! Found the whole series on Netflix while BRAHSING over Christmas and I’ve already binged S1 again.

The wedding episode remains one of the greatest half hours of television ever committed to screen.

Wow it seemed like an aggressive form as well, that’s wonderful
