Now I finally understand the title of that recent Natalia Imbruglia double pregnant thread

LMK if this album has anything on the level of Never Really Over.

Judging by the singles released post that showcase this leg and dairy piece of work, I HIGHLY doubt it: but I'm OPEN :eyes: :D

What’s with these extra animated videos popping up this week? Never Really Over got one, it was a washing-up version of Groundhog Day in the style of Doom (with chubby wrists)

can confirm that the album is FABULOUS and contains a couple of proper BANGERS and clear HIT SINGLES

Katycats first listen 9am!!! :disco:

I’m Listening now

sorry but I can’t do 9am :D

"Champagne on ice only makes you stronger" :disco:

Cry About It Later is such a GROOVE! really like how it blends her pop song stylings with that driving, rhythmic production that gives it lots of forward motion. The chorus is so immediate - should definitely be a single

Teary Eyes is such a banger - I don't think it's a single but we're off to a really STRONG START HERE

Resilient is definitely a breather / possible toilet break moment but it's cute enough

Not The End of the World feels both reductive and enjoyable - we didn't ASK for a Dark Horse/Black Widow redux but the chorus does have a bit more WARMTH to it than those songs. However the Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye sample is not necessary.

Smile is actually even more enjoyable in the context of the album. It's JUST SO LOVELY

10 Never Really Over
09 Cry About It Later
08 Tears Eyes
10 Daisies
06 Resilient
07 Not the End of the World
09 Smile

I'm on 'Resilient' now. Definitely a weak link.

I dunno... maybe I'm just regurgitating what I keep hearing on here, but it's definitely a step down from Prism and Witness. Nothing's inoffensively bad so far, but I feel like when this is over I won't be humming any of it. (except Never Really Over :disco:)

Champagne Problems - all of the individual ingredients here are nice, I especially like the little disco production flourishes - it's just a shame the chorus is a touch flat.

Tucked is that '78 roller disco fantasy and it is FABULOUS!

Harleys is still pretty dull to these ears.

Only Love is absolutely BEAUT and also sounds like it would be a big UK radio hit. the lyrics ("I'd call my mother and tell her I'm sorry") feel very tailor made FOR THE LOCALS.

What Makes a Woman really is very lovely and is a sound she should pursue further. It's just TOO SHORT!

10 Never Really Over
09 Cry About It Later
08 Tears Eyes
10 Daisies
06 Resilient
07 Not the End of the World
09 Smile
07 Champagne Problems
08 Tucked
06 Harleys in Hawaii
08 Only Love
07 What Makes a Woman

Overall a really solid album - definitely better than Witness (just without the same towering highs) and clearly influenced by Prism musically, if less hit-stacked. Not a revolution but it feels like just enough growth for her at this moment in time.

The album just finished and I didn't even notice. :D

'Never Really Over' and 'Smile' are both fairly strong, and the whole beginning segment is enjoyable, but it is a bit of a massive shrug of an album truth be told. Very solid SIX.
