Kesha - Warrior (sync 2nite! let's die young! 8pm!)

but not Dan Auerbach. otherwise we'd been in wrist slitting Ultraviolence territory. :disco:

Only Wanna Dance has such a nice peppy rhythm to it. she can sell tracks like this in her sleep. love the male backing VOX.

08 Only Wanna Dance With You

In this one she samples The Strokes' Last Nite, it's so obvious she wanted to be all about "real music" but Dr. Luke really said "Not on my watch bitch!" and amped up the well known BSB/Britney kickdrum samples :(

Northern Star WHO?

Dr. Luke really is a maniac. but sadly he was/is excellent at producing bangers. better suited to the EDM era than where music is at now though.

I had a dream the other night that I gave some kind of acceptance speech at an awards show and had a total MOMENT where I was like "THIS IS FOR EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T WORK WITH DR. LUKE" :D

Supernatural is just OK.

now Love Into the Light is just GORGEOUS and transcendent. everybody I've ever heard talk about Kesha loves this song, it's huge and très anthemic. they really should've taken a chance on it as a single, I think it could have had a real moment.

the nerve of starting the album on its shittiest track and "ending" it on its best :D

Last Goodbye is fabulous. I'm such a SUCKER for this more organic jangly guitar-pop direction for her - this is single material again. Luke really fucking hated her.

Gold Trans Am is a bit like a slightly more polished version of what she's been doing on Rainbow and High Road.

What do you he hated her? I've always felt he wanted the album to take a more EDM direction like n Animal Pt.2 when clearly neither Kesha nor the general public wanted that from her but TLG is a really good song, guess it was too personal for her because she cried the first time she attempted recording it and it wasn't very on-brand with the concept.

Out Alive is a bit too standard to warrant a comment. but Past Lives... :disco: what a gorgeous note to end on! lyrically it's one of my favourites from her.

seems millenniums ago, love
we were nothing more than stardust
just the galaxy beneath us
we found weight

then we made it through the ice age
but I lost you in the crusades
I build the pyramids for you, babe
just to see your face...

OMG. it's everything. :disco:

8.1/10 - once it gets going, a really solid album.

her mom is such a Dina Lohan

did we know Pebe very intentionally had a baby as a result of a one night stand (as in planned from the beginning) because it was her PLAN to raise a daughter as a single mom?! she sounds a bit NUTS.

She sure sounds like it! I always read she was the one pushing for Kesha Rose to become a singer at any cost  which would explain why some people suspect she knew about Dr. Luke's antics yet didn't do anything cause that's showbiz.

Die Young, on the other hand, is a hard 9. these beats feel TERRIBLY of their time but something about her vocal over them is very comforting. and this song has ludicrously catchy melodies at every turn.

didn't it get pulled from radio just as it was getting big due to some massacre in the states? :(

02 Warrior
09 Die Young

yeah it was the sandy hook massacre (a mass shooting of young children in a school :(:(:(:(). So the name Die Young was especially unfortunate
