I read the book a few months ago, it’s grim.

This was a lot better than I expected. Pacing was good, performances were actually much better than I’m used to from Shyamalan. I had no idea what to expect but yes… enjoyed it.

I feel I’m going to be lambasted for this opinion. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had high hopes for this and technically it’s good but the end just shits over everything.
Also most of the better lines of dialogue came from the book. I still think he’s not a good film maker who doesn’t have a subtle bone in his body everything is so blunt.

So the Qanon wackos were right and they actually should have murdered each others earlier to save the world? Like how did he read the book and get that? It’s bizarre and such a bad message to send.

Book spoiler: in the book they kill Wen accidentally during the struggle for the gun then they walk away deciding to go on because fuck any god that requested such a sacrifice and you don’t get an answer to whether the world is actually ending (although it’s heavily implied that they’re a bunch of internet people who were indoctrinated).

I didn’t expect them to kill the child because that would turn the audience on them but to also add the end where the world is no longer ending because of their sacrifice really pissed me of.

The book isn’t perfect but the last two pages pack such a good emotional punch and a lovely message about resilience

Interesting that they had such mass changes from the book.. I would have felt uncomfortable with them killing Wen though - it didn't feel like the movie was going dark enough for that.

But very interesting that they clearly changed it - in the movie it felt very strongly that the 4 Horsemen were exactly that and not internet whackos after all... Why would they change that?!?

I'd forgotten all about 'Old' until someone bumped the thread - and this does piss all over that at least. :D

Ugh still mad about this. What a hack.
