Kylie - I Love It

it's growing on me as it goes on. I love the slight edge of darkness to it, in contrast with Magic.

but the production feels very slight. needs to be a bit richer, a bit more textured. I do like the horns.

8/10

This isn’t one of her self recorded vocals if I’m not mistaken.

Listening properly now in HQ. Easily one of her most nasal vocals. The song isn’t sounding much better to me. Cute, but that’s about it. Nice though and certainly wouldn’t skip it.

Someone enter this in to a song for Moopy tomorrow :eyes:

Is there some ridiculous streaming chart reason why Magic and Say Something are included on the single?

To up her streaming numbers, surely?

This isn’t a single.

Oh I know it would do that - I just wondered if they can be counted in other ways, considering how things can be double counted for chart purposes. Or somehow towards the album before it was even released. Nothing would surprise me any more.

no it's just common strategy to tag everything into the latest release

They’ve clearly given up on her charting. This is all to do with her monthly listeners.

Anyway re : I Love It - the Magic vocal sounds positively heavenly in comparison, honestly.

I don’t think it’s a bad song at all but the vocal is jarring. And that’s enough to put me off a Kylie song (like the recently discussed Did It Again)

I don’t find the vocal any more jarring than a lot of her output. That's just how a Kylie vocal sounds a significant amount of time to me.

Really? She hasn’t sounded this nasal in years to me. I’d rather she sang solely in her upper register if this is what we are now going to get when she goes low.

Ugh I think I prefer "Wow". This is like budget "disco" and way too obvious. Where are the sultry grooves?

Ok it’s nice enough but I genuinely forgot I was listening to a new Kylie song while I was browsing the KATE RATE thread.

Yes, Say Something is everything. But a whole album of basic disco isn’t going to do for me when I don’t even like the genre to begin with. Also see - Golden.

I like it. A catchy little number and fine for an album track/grat release. Her vocal isn't too bad for me, I think the LQ clip made it sound worse.

I think it is likely that being the buzz release they wanted a song that shouted 'This is DISCO!' in an obvious way as Say Something and Magic to a much lesser extent aren't that. Hasn't she said something that indicated the whole thing isn't full on disco and some of it just has influences/touches? I still don't expect Say Something to be a complete outlier.

So after a day of living with this, I’m content that this is just a good album track and nothing more - at least it’s not completely forgettable filler. The vocals have bedded in a bit and I quite like the Miami Sound Machine references. The outro remains the best part. I wish we had more of those high vox.

Christian is clearly channeling Kylie uberfan Neil McCormick there.

Anyway it is 7/10 for me. With better vocals it would be an 8.

WHO DAT Eds my dear?

He's the HACK who works for The Telegraph and declared the Anti Tour to be the WORST gig he had ever been to in his LIFE (I'm paraphrasing) but still gave it a 2 out of 5 rating.

I’m enjoying the track if not living for it and I see no discernible difference in her vocals, they’re pretty much as they always sound.
