This just came up on a Youtube loop and although the performance is QUITE GOOD, it reminded me that this was one of Kylie's finest EVER moments and that it sounds as good today (if not better) as it ever did. She also looked awesome here. A proper little electro treat.

I didn't put a zero option, quite rightly. I probably should have started the poll at 8.

I can genuinely say that at the time, I loved it, but I didn't quite get it. 12 years and a whole of electronica later, I completely get it. Influenced and influential.

I remember some review I read back in the day had called it 'gargantuan' and this word somehow stuck with me ever since and I remember it every time I hear the song. And it truly is gargantuan.

I am now revisiting Body Language for the first time in about a DECADE.

What a shame the whole album wasn't in the same vein.

One of her finest to my ears, had hoped the album would follow on from this kind of sound. Emiliana Torrini co wrote this and the B side Soul On Fire which was pretty fab too.

I adore the mix on the X Tour.

Yes! I used to listen to it over and over again. *beat speeds up suddenly* "Come on dance with me! YEAAeeeeeAAHHHHH! SLOW!!!!" :disco:

I don't listen to this often anymore, but it is her best look, one of her top 15 songs, and was a huge risk post-"Head"

Something The Beloved might have farted out as a b-side, it's vastly overrated, but still miles ahead of most of the turtle-head Rn'B from the album (Still Standing being the one unequivocal exception).

Oh damn. I stupidly thought we were rating the video. The track's a clear 10.

EDIT: rating not eating

Hmm. So "Slow". At the time, I didn't LOVE it, I thought it was alright. It took me until about a year after to realise it is actually sensational. It was a RIDICULOUSLY brave move, coming after the most successful period of her career, and I still maintain that had there been a more commercial lead single, "Body Language" would have performed a LOT differently to how it eventually did. The video too, for me, is absolutely superb- she looks stunning, the cinematography is phenomenal, but at a time when videos still REALLY mattered, it was just a bit too leftfield. Wasn't it "Slow" that was originally to have the treatment that ended up with "Sweet Dreams My LA Ex"? (And would explain how she has performed with the light sabers quite a few times?)

Anyway, age has been kind to "Slow". It still sounds like it could be a single today- it was VERY ahead of its time. It also has one of the best opening couplets of any song ever in "Knew you'd be here tonight, so I put my best dress on..." :disco:

It was Rachel that was supposed to get the Slow video treatment, but it was too expensive.

Absolutely love both the song and the video. They truly grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat seeing as it rained heavily for the entire shoot.

Its much-maligned parent album is one of my absolute favourites too.

I still love "Body Language" but sonically it was a) very much the wrong thing to do and b) a bit of a mess. I still love it, though....

I want you to REMEMBER
First KISS you ever HAD...

:disco:

did anyone else mishear the lyrics? poor fuckers, close up, you and me.

err, it's "you and i", kylie ann.

There are some glorious moments on Body Language. But it feels completely disjointed and lacking in vision.

"After Dark" annoys me as the ending when "Loving Days" is just the PERFECT album closer...

Actually lacking in vision night not be correct. More like unwilling to commit to one, perhaps.

And let's not get started on the album's CROWNING GLORY again

If it were LIQUID it would drown me....

Slow, Red Blooded Woman, Loving Days, Promises, Chocolate and Obsession are all 10/10.
