Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th)

On the eternal mystery that is ACR, Loreen collapsed 20-60 this week, her tenth week on the chart.

Kylie is on week nine. 🥶

I might be wrong but I think the earliest that Kylie can go to ACR is week 11 (don't ask me why) which means it's all or nothing next week if they want to avoid it.

I wonder if they have a promo slot lined up?

Well that new remix is getting more word of mouth and hype than the others, and a promo slot would be good.

I have faith she can get more streams next week than this week :disco:

@ManicKangaroo may know but I think maybe two or three weeks ago she had a streaming increase (in relation to the market) so she’s fine for next week, but if it doesn’t increase this week (again, relative to the market?) then this coming week will be her last in the upper echelon?

To be fair it’s done ridiculously well so it’s by the by anyway, and I doubt the new remix will save it, so it doesn’t really matter. Ten weeks top 30 is beyond belief. But if it can avoid it that’d be lovely.

As I mentioned she's already on 2 weeks of decline so if she drops this week then she'll be on ACR on Friday.

If she's on DCL-2 now, that means she will hit ACR this week (ie next Friday, her tenth week in the chart - the same as Loreen), unless streams increase this chart week we're in now. It doesn't matter if she increased streams three weeks ago, if this is her third consecutive week of decline and she's at 10 chart weeks.

The outperforming the market rule seems a bit NEBULOUS to me and I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of it is. Is it related to the chart clearout after Christmas?

As brilliantly as it’s done, I suppose I’ve not been alone in holding out hope that there could still be a proper viral moment/big promo slot where it fully catches on and shoots into the top five.

But it is looking increasingly likely that it’s gone as far as it’s going to, as far as the UK charts anyway.

I'm not sure ACR matters or not anyway now. If she does manage to increase streams this week (and I don't think one remix and a fan streaming campaign will be enough), it only means that she'll get a few more weeks likely drifting down the top20, rather than dropping out of the top 40.

As airplay is still massive, it's still going to be heard everywhere feeding more into the perception of it being a big hit. Outside of chart geeks, who will care whether it's #14 or #44, when she's had all the headlines and hype around it being a hit, and nobody can deny it has performed way beyond anyone would have hoped. Frankly it's astonishing that we're even discussing in 2023 a Kylie track having sufficient weeks on chart to be affected by ACR.

I suppose we always want more. Personally I'd have loved to have seen a 7" released 4 weeks or so ago, when it would have no doubt been sufficient to push her top 5 or even top 3. But then we'd only have wanted #1.

Heard absolute play his techno remix of this last night. 10 pills out of 10 would recommend

Slowed down, man guitar covers of pop bangers are obviously UNACCEPTABLE, but posting this as it's Eurovision adjacent

The fact that Padam is #1 on airplay is a bit of an issue for the second single though, isn't it? I imagine stations will be more likely to playlist single #2 due to the success of Padam, but will the label want to release it knowing she will have to compete with herself?

She has that Netflix drama (The Residence) coming up in which she's meant to be performing the second single so they might not have a choice.

According to The Daily Fail she's on her way to LA from Melbourne now. She looks quite sombre in the photographs.

I was reading an article yesterday saying that due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, Hollywood A-listers won't be doing the UK chat show and press promo circuits this autumn, so I'm fully expecting Kylie being the sole guest on both Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross in a couple of months :disco:

Speaking of PWL…

This might have been posted before but I’m NOT looking through 600 pages to check

The best one yet!

None of the other remixes are doing much for me. We need Initial Talk.

Have they announced when the second single is coming? I’d assume mid August? By which time it should have fallen down the airplay chart (markedly I’d guess given its off the Radio 1 and 2 playlists), so it may not be too much of a problem radio wise. Though I imagine Padam will still get solid play even when it’s not on actual playlists so, so maybe it will.

Nothing announced but reading stuff from the loons on twitter its between the two Anya Jones tracks. I think any track they release is going to be in the shadow of Padam, a bit like 'In Your Eyes' was for Head. If I was her label I wouldn't be worrying about chasing a second hit and it would all be about the ALBAM

That's a phenomenal picture of her. Imagine not living in the same time as Kylie.

apparently Tension is the 2nd single but not out til August 30th (pushed back 4 weeks from the original plan). maybe they need time to shoot a video - she's back in LA right now.
