Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th)

I saw that Kelly Clarkson one already- the whole acoustic rock vibe means that the vocals suit it a lot better, I think.

I kind of hated Kelly's cover too. it's so flat and joyless.

Splendid on American Idol. I thought she sounded great over the track, thats how you do it R Mae.

I am not sure who Nutsoo is but only thing is would have liked more Padam.

Good job :disco:

I think it's more about Sophie Muller always having Kylie sit or lie down in the videos she's directed for her? I'm not sure it's fair though, most of them have quite a bit of choreography too (she's directed everything from Dancing onwards I believe).
It's Sophie's go to concept.

Anyway, I agree she was great on Idol and it also shows just how well the two songs pair up.

Yes Kylie was wonderful and obviously a big gig for her but a shame the first performance we got was a verse and a chorus. Hopefully we will get to see Kylie doing the FULL PADAM soon.

I like PADAMx2 more on a second listen with earphones whilst watching her strut in the video.

I really enjoy the song, it’s stuck in my head, slay Kylie etc. but does it remind anyone else of Bananas in pyjamas?

Just to keep it realistic, Magic, Dancing and Say Something all fell around 25-30 spots from Monday’s position - as naturally her sales are stronger at the start of the week and once streams are added in retrospect she tends to lose out.

It has been holding well on Apple and doing better than her last few singles on Spotify which is great. However, it seems likely it’ll be a similar fate and finish around #50 on Friday. Which is still bloody brilliant to be fair.

Interesting, but damn, I thought her streaming figures were up quite a bit with this one.

They are great for her, even on Spotify it’s doing about double what Say Something was each day. But ultimately it’s not top 200 in the UK so despite the good figures, it’s not helping chart wise relative to the rest of the chart.

it's been added to a few playlists (including the official F1 playlist on Spotify?) and back in at 186 today. should help it hold top 40.

How much of the streaming market is held by Apple?

She’s up to 70 odd on that.

PAH @ THE NEGAITIVE NANCIES!

This is going to be Kylie's biggest hit since Santa Baby.

Well yes we didn’t have that info when I posted!
Coming back in on Spotify is huge for her and definitely changes the narrative a bit - will certainly give her a bash at staying top forty. If it does it could well get it added to/up more playlists too, so fingers crossed.

Why don’t they do some physical CD singles? Bung 20k of those at 99p a pop - she’ll go top ten!

20k? :D

those singles are a loss maker and BMG don't run that kind of business model. Kylie's a money maker darling, she only makes money :disco:

Her streaming numbers look relatively strong for an older mature legacy act oldie long standing pop star

By comparison Jessie Ware does well on digital sales but can’t get a Top 100 hit to save her life. And she’s much earlier into her career than Kylie …

Jessie Ware's core fanbase is much smaller than Kylie's, so of course the streaming numbers are lower and she's not charting. she debuts with 10-12k albums sold. Kylie can debut at 50k+, she's been active 3x longer and is a national treasure. (Jessie will be too one day soon. :disco:)
