Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th) (4 Viewers)

Whatever you think of the outfit, she looks absolutely stunning here:

A rainbow t shirt from target won't make your kid gay but Katya testing out her new hip to Padam Padam while Trixie "djs" will.

Biggest selling cassette single for over a decade!

While we’re talking formats, Kylie Minogue’s Padam Padam reaches another new peak, advancing 9-8 (25,549 sales) with assistance from residual sales of both cassette (189 units) and CDs (115 units). The track has now sold 1,693 copies on cassette, which doesn’t seem much but which places it atop the list of biggest selling cassettes of the last 10 years, ahead of Adele’s Easy On Me (1,612) and her own 1989 Jason Donovan duet, Especially For You, which has sold just two fewer than Easy On Me in the moribund format since its re-release last August.

It’s a shame they’ve already filmed the next seasons of Drag Race UK and Down Under as they’d have definitely have used Padam in one of the lip syncs.

@POP! @RJN - What would you say the general read is on Kylie in America?

On paper it’s such a weird career there. Essentially a one-hit wonder in the 80s then a 1.5 hit wonder again in the early 00s.

Does she have much of a profile? Is there a sense of just how beloved she is outside the US? Or of the music she’s made since Fever?

She's got a profile but probably diminishes significantly for anyone under 30. CGYOOMH, Love at First Sight and her Loco-motion are generally well known and I think she is respected as an international icon to those who know her. Even without any hits since 2002, she's remained somewhat visible with her high profile American TV gigs over last decade and a half.

I would've never said this a few years ago, but I can see her staging another minor pop hit here (i.e. top 40 pop radio, charting on the Hot 100) with the right push. There's already an appetite for it with social media, and she seems to be plotting some sort of campaign here.

Obviously they’d have crossed paths with Kelly’s high profile in Europe, but it’s always a kick to see an all-American star like Kelly Clarkson fangirling over her.

I kind of mentally associate Kylie’s US career with Shakira’s, though obviously the latter is younger and had a lot more sustained success.

Well I just played Padam Padam for a bunch of people, none of whom are Kylie fans, and the reception was really positive, so I’m calling this a future hit. I do think this is going to be top 40 eventually

I definitely have heard her mentioned more in the last month than in the last 20 years. Mostly among gay men, but still

An American friend of mine says how she is basically regarded as the Queen of the Gays over there, by most of society.

:D

Americans are not self aware enough to appoint an Australian as QoF (queen of faggotry).

Stays at #25 on Spotify but frustratingly while it seemed to be heading for its biggest day, the numbers have actually dropped in this country.

Kylie is an icon in the gay quarters of America for sure. From the friends I’ve made in New York and California, she’s one of the greats. Probably amongst an older crowd but still.

Four days in a row may suggest it is peaking, which is fine. It’s done amazing and should have great legs. I would love to see it go higher, but if this is the peak then that’s beyond amazing what it’s achieved.

Oh wow will she get a million day soon? And not rising on Spotify UK, does that mean she's picking up around the world?

An additional 59,796 for the extended mix (for a total of 752,956) which means all in PP had 903,983 steams on the 36th day.
