Kylie - Say Something

I never thought it was going to be (70s) Disco. It was always going to be THIS SORT OF SHIT. Let’s face it, Your Disco Needs You isn't actually DISCO,

Thankfully it was more Robin S than Atomic Kitten.

Worst fears unfounded.

Light Years was a bit of a 70s/early 80s disco pastiche album. This needs not to be.

She has described it as “grown up disco” which fits nicely into the current trend set by Dua Lipa.

The art work implied a Baccarra type of affair with hand held long silver mics with a lead attached.

Sparing a thought for Team Kylie - they must be so relieved with the reaction today. I'd imagine it's rather stressful starting a new era with a gay fanbase that is loyal to a fault but that will rip you to fucking shreds if you put a foot wrong :D

I've heard it now - it's gorgeous! Slightly less of a tits out pressed against the window moment than I was expecting from some of the reactions, but it's absolutely top drawer Kylie.

The "Say something, say something, tell me how you feeeel" is a bit "Better Than Today". Overall this is infinitely better than "Dancing" for me but I still am getting used to the structure. 9/10

Please don't 'some people' sub-post about me, HeLikedTurner, whom I have know in real life for many years. If you would like to respond to my post I strongly encourage you to do so directly.

Anyway it doesn't sound disco to an uninformed/basic person like ME and I would bet as a result most of the population so it's a TAD confusing in terms of the messaging. I bet it wasn't even meant to be the first single until a gay intern realised it sounded a bit like it was about COVID. Flop era confirmed. :basil:

Why respond to you directly, when I've seen more than yourself say that it's "not very disco"? It's not all about you.

I genuinely don't understand the "it's not very disco" comments.

A time signature of 4/4 - Check
Bass guitar-driven energy with syncopated bass lines - Check
Four-on-the floor rhythms - Check
Vocals with reverb - Check
Escapist lyrics about love - Check

I'm not saying you're "uninformed/basic". I honestly feel that "some people"(is there another term I should use?) have a limited idea of what a disco song sounds like, based on some Gloria Gaynor or Donna Summer songs they heard a few times.

This is gorgeous. Color me impressed.

I suspect that 'Slightly Discoish' as a title was seen as not the best idea.

I imagine the title is aimed at selling the tour as mich as anything else.

I was a BIT tetchy. It's just that disco music really soothes me and I haven't heard any today

With retrospect I need answers as to why all the tracks on Fever weren't about having a temperature, all the tracks on X weren't themed around the letter x and why Body Language was a musical album rather than a visual dance installation expressing language through motion.

I WANT ANSWERS!

Yes, but it's $10 a year and an evening of my time, so warrants wider discussion.
Well if you're willing at some point that sounds WELL WORTH IT.

All the joy of tags without the keyboard warrior element.

Solid 8/10. It's a bit too...PLEASANT. It's kinda missing a climax. But the production is fucking ace.

The album will obviously be an interstellar success. Queen Kylie never disappoints.

You haven’t heard what YOUR idea of disco music is today. Why are you persevering with this? You’re being wilfully ignorant. And liking cunty tweets by other people isn’t a good look either.

That post was a joke and I liked a post that was also a joke, HLT.

Oh come on everyone, relax. It's not that deep. Let's just unwind and have a dance to a good disco track. None are springing to mind right now but if I think of one...
