Labour: The Keir Starmer years

Sir Keir's won - are you happy with this outcome?

I’m going to have to SPOIL MY BALLOT at this point as we don’t have a Green candidate here.

So happy we’ve caught up to American politics insomuch as all there is to chat about is TRANS PEOPLE and PAEDOS.

what is the labour party doing. what kind of absurd self sabotage at a moment when they've been well to sustain their support.

whoever is deciding policy right now needs OUT and Keir needs to focus on appeasing left and centre leaning voters instead of courting the right for absolutely no reason. it's degrading (Madonna voice).

I think I would still vote them to evict the Tories. because it can't be much worse. but I don't think anyone should expect any kind of political refresh under this Labour government if elected. they're completely oblivious.

the American left (even the centre left) is considerably more radical than the UK left. Corbyism truly drove a stake through the left. under Keir's leadership Labour seem so... ghoulish.

I kind of think it says a lot about where things are under this government that there isn't even the prison space for convicted child abusers at this point. Basic competency from state services is kind of the least the public should be able to expect from a government.

Sorry but I'm fucking TIRED of the handwringing as if the Tories were ever going to fight fair. Kick them until they're down and don't stop kicking until they've fucking stopped twitching!

As a friend has commented, the glaring missing line from that apology is "They've been sacked, for obvious reasons." The other thing is it's hard to see what other argument that letter could have actually been intending to make even if you did accept that it was just a misworded first draft.

Yeah, that’s what I think too. It doesn’t make sense at all.

This is all so bizarre, I'm not even sure WHY she would write that to The Guardian in the first place unless its some sort of conscious self-sabotage?? Really just bizarre all round.

Diane Abbott is MY MP, and she's HUGELY popular locally - but her constituency also has one of the largest Hasidic Jewish populations in the country - whilst I'm fairly sure they are the few in the constituency that vote Conservative (the only local Tory councillor is from their community) it just seems like an utterly MAD BAD and DANGEROUS thing to even stir up.

I do love Diane but perhaps its time she was elegantly put out to pasture :eyes:

Yeah I love Auntie Diane but I can't get my head round what she was hoping to achieve here, or how bad at reading the room and picking her battles she's been?!

The apology is as mad too. Ohh, you accidentally sent the anti-semitic anti-traveller first draft of your letter! Fairs doos we can all relate

I am at a loss to work out what she was hoping to achieve here. It's such an own goal.
