Lana Del Rey - Blue Banisters (2 Viewers)

OK so I listened to six tracks. Dealer is incredible (and fucking WEIRD) and Sweet Carolina is gorgeous and dreamy and feels like an instant Lana classic. BBS was good but these 2 really stood out.

full deep dive tomorrow AM

7.7 and a very positive review from Pitchfork (tied as her 2nd-best score with Lust For Life), who single out Black Bathing Suit, Dealer and Sweet Carolina as highlights

Beautiful is the first outright filler. it's pretty, but she could've chopped it.

you made me trade my VIOLETS for ROSES
you tried to trade my NEW TRUCK for ROLLSES

:D :D :D

how much was the truck worth?!

really into this one.

Wow, what a fantastic album. It's absolutely beautiful and so thoughtful. For me it's the natural successor to Norman Fucking Rockwell! (shall we just pretend Chemtrails didn't happen?). I'm really looking forward to a second listen but I need to recover from the first. ♥️

I was two thirds of the way through reading this post before I realised it wasn't sarcasm :D

glad you're stanning, hun! now we need to get that miserable WITCH @Dark Carnival on board

I was dreading it as I just wasn’t in the mood for her SCHTICK but first song in I was instantly enamoured AS ALWAYS.

I've bought this but it'll need to wait - I also came home to some Nurse With Wound and I have an online gig to attend tonight.

Went with the normal cover rather than the HMV exclusive. I prefer the standard cover this time.

What a TROLL, recording an actual piano ballad about how her sisters banisters used to be GREEN (or is it GREY?), but now hers are BLUE or whatever she's going on about :D
And a song about having BLUE BANISTERS is being legitimately critiqued by music press worldwide :D I'm sure somebody somewhere is cackling, but I'm sure it's not Lana as everything she does is so clearly painfully SINCERE :D

Anyway, love the album so far. It's kind the direction I wish Tori Amos would have stuck with about TWENTY YEARS AGO.
I wish she'd added White Dress then we could just delete COCC from existence :disco:
The one about Violets To ROSES is an initial fave, as is the bonkers Miles Kane collab one where she starts ejaculating:

"I don't wanna liiiiiiiiiiiiiiive
I don't wanna give you nothing
'Cause you never give me nothing back
Why can't you be good for something?" :D

at the top of her lungs, QUEEN!

I'm kind of only here for the music, but any GOSS?
I still have to watch it. Based on the response online, she came across more relaxed and down to earth than usual. Her dad pops in at some points. She sings bits of "Living Legend", "Million Dollar Man", "Cherry Blossom" and interacts with some fans.

Also, here is the "Arcadia" performance (pre-record) on Colbert from last night:

Other tidbits from the live:

- no tour anytime soon
- teases cover album still for later this year, but later says it may actually just be a "country and cali" inspired album
- mentions "arcadia", "nectar of the gods", "living legend", and "dealer" as some of her favorite songs from the album.
- re "living legend": "WHY did you leak that? WHY did you leak one of my favorite songs? HMMM??"
- "also no i did not rip the album out of a clerk's hand at target... but i was at target. and now they have surveillance of me trying on a puffy jacket while vaping" :D
- she thinks she is given a hard time by critics because of her face
- next album is digital only because "vinyl has become the bane of [her] existence" b/c she has to wait 5 months for it to be pressed after finishing an album

no Born To Die tour for the seventh time? oh well :D

the critics are IN THRALL WITH HER as have they been for at least four consecutive albums. she briefly got some bad press because she said some BRAINDEAD SHIT. nothing to do with her FACE. shut up and puff your vape, Lana.

The last hour with her dad and various twinks is a VIBE.

Also the moment a fan asks her about "Wildflower Wildfire" and she looks horrified cause she thinks she is being asked about her mom in front of her dad.

what's the story with her parents? ugly divorce? she does say she's "not friends" with her mum on the record but I really don't know anything more than that
