the video is a complete write-off. set-ups are nice and she looks great but god the editing is HORRIBLE

Haven’t watched or heard yet but honestly don’t mind if this is the case if it spared us another fucking homemade music video filmed by her sister.

I imagine we will get another single before the album since we have another two months to go. Any sign of a deluxe package or bonus tracks?

@Tisch said to me, and I agree, that she was completely unprepared for an interview. It was just a ramble of the thoughts she's had in her head the past couple of months. She didn't really have anything to say

Also she pretty much wrote off Norman Fucking Rockwell

And she said what a perfect tour her 2019/20 tour was. Despite cancelling the entire European leg... (and that was pre-Covid tour cancellations)

listening now and it's horrifying and we haven't got to any of the controversial stuff yet :D

the bit where she says this is the first album she wasn't SURE if she achieved what she set out to achieve - whereas with NFR! she knew she'd nailed it. VERY promising. :D

I have a slight fear that she is going to abruptly shelve the album in light of all this/her sensitivity to any critique, and we’ll never hear from her again (poetry notwithstanding).

The song is nice enough and she sounds great on it but that video is horrendous and doesn't really give the song itself much of a chance.

she says LIKE every five words. it's unbearable and her makes her sound so INELOQUENT.

I don't know why she didn't move to a different room where there ISN'T a guy fixing her chimney :D

OK off to leave work and hurry home to listen to this and prepare for the 8:30 pm Born to Die/Paradise SYNC!

"I find that when my home life is very peaceful I'm not feeling like I have to defend [myself from criticism professionally]"...

this was quite revealing.

Let's face it she's over.
I wouldn't go that far but there are certainly STORMS AHEAD, and her current controversies will taint every review of this record which might drive her further into victim territory. it's going to be a rough year for her.

I'm on the second listen now but this time without that GOD AWFUL video.

And to think this is the same woman who gave us such video gems like Ride, Blue Jeans, National Anthem, West Coast.

@Jark to confirm whether she sounds stoned
I was trying to tell but I honestly couldn't :D the rambling and incoherence was certainly typical of somebody very blazed, but at the same time she also just sounded unsure of herself and second guessing all of her own words in real time. I don't know. it could be a mental health thing you know.

tl;dr - 66% chance yes

@Jark please start a thread for the sync so I’m not typing and driving! We will have to move it to 9pm , actually leaving work now!

I will do that for you beb but unfortunately i'm not able to join due to emergency circumstances :( but may do a catch-up listen tomorrow!

OK “Chemtrails” has swallowed me whole, 1:55 to 2:10 in particular LAWD

I’d rAnk this about even with “Venice Bitch” as far as her pre album singles go, ie VERY GOOD.

For anyone interested in SELF HARM - the RADIO 1 interview:

I don't think they're even in the same league I'm afraid :( Venice Bitch is a masterpiece. I'm sure CTOTCC will grow on me but a masterpiece it is not

I actually quite enjoyed that interview :D

She is high as a kite absolutely, but 100x more insightful and real than the usual "this new album is my best ever, can't wait to see the fans on the road."
