Well yes, probably I chose the biggest onesWell those are 5 of the biggest artists in the world
I can’t speak for any other country, but among young people in the US, I think Lana del rey is mainstream
but even singers that are not current, like Tina Turner or any of the Spice Girls would get a slot in the night news. Lana del Rey never had a big hit, or did anything very relevant outside her music. This is going to sound horrible and I hope you understand what I mean, but Ariana Grande became a household name here only after the horrible terrorist attack.I’m on the subway and really resisting the urge to ask everyone else if they know who Lana is
Everyone spontaneously broke into a choir of “fuck me to death, love me until I love myself”And did they know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd?
This is all fair. There’s different degrees to being mainstream though, which is what I’m trying to get at. Also things are so fragmented now, I don’t think any one singer is ever going to be as big as ones in the past nowWell yes, probably I chose the biggest onesbut even singers that are not current, like Tina Turner or any of the Spice Girls would get a slot in the night news. I always say an artist is mainstream here when my mother heard of them, who isn't into pop music but listens to the radio and watches the news daily, and I'm sure she never heard of Lana.
But yes, she's probably mainstream in the US, actually I think so.
At least she has a good thing and it's something you probably never thought about, and I'm pretty sure this happens in some other foreing countries. As a country with a basic level of English, for artists with names that are difficult to pronounce or write is a lot harderThis is all fair. I'm just thinking Gwyneth Paltrow or Rachel Weisz, which are quite intrincate for Spanish speaking people. Probably there are better examples. Well there's Schwarzenegger, I don't think many people would spell it correctly (yes I did google it), but he became too famous so that's an exception. Lana has the perfect Spanish name, and that helps a lot, believe me. Now she just needs the big hit or the Superbowl. Also yes to this, it's hard to think there's going to be someone as famous as Michael Jackson, I would say he was not just the singer, but the most famous person in the world. I can't think of anyone close to it, forget about singers. Maybe Jesy Nelson. Also things are so fragmented now, I don’t think any one singer is ever going to be as big as ones in the past now
the album is 79 minutes long (14 songs and 2 interludes). her previous longest was Lust For Life (72 mins).
did she get blazed and decide to TROLL US?Maybe it was the country standards album that was lostshe is insanely talented and prolific. these other bitches who need seven years between opuses just to find a droplet of inspiration should TAKE NOTE!
also, that story she spun in like October about losing all her new music in her car was just... a blatant lie, or what?did she get blazed and decide to TROLL US?

The bar has been set high I see- Album opener The Grants is a “full song

she put billboards up only in Tulsa, where her ex bf Sean (the cop) lives.
Damn, forgot her honeymoon account is private so it won't work
so HOMELY and not so glamorous of her
