I think every time I've listened to the album I've completely phased out by this stage. I'm trying to concentrate on it but she does make it difficult

this album is like: she recorded five albums, took the "extremely sedate mid-section which veers slightly into self-indulgent territory" from each, stitched them together and said HERE'S THE RECORD. imagine what the label must have thought

I like "Art Deco" but I think it's TOO similar to "Freak" (in tempo and sound) to really be anything but kind of a plodding moment in sequence of the full album.

I can't remember if I like Art Deco or not (and it's still on) but I am here for the jazz influences popping into the instrumental, and then these gentle, mournful strings creeping in at the end. less here for rhyming "art deco" with "ghetto".

I definitely see the end of the interlude as the point I should sit up and listen again. Religion is middling-good but then it just gets better and better!

"Religion" is nice but it's VERY Lana-by-numbers

To be honest the whole album feels like that. Which is why I've never warmed to it. It felt like a 180 after UltraVIOLENCE.
