This frequently flip flops with Ultraviolence as my favorite Lana album. It's the last chapter in our re-listen Lana journey until Chemtrails :eyes:

Favourite Lana album and possibly my fave album of all time. Absolutely love everything about it. Will be here for sure.

The culture is definitely LIT. And if this is it. I'll have a ball.

Fave album of all time :o Very high praise
Have you heard this one before?

I LIVE for Cinnamon Girl onward - it's relentless. The first half is very good as well.

yes I actually have! I listened to it a lot last year and love it. My favorite album by her and one of my top of 2019

I haven’t listened to this since we decided to revisit with this sync. This is a departure from my daily listens of this album - so I’m absolutely STARVED.

What makes this album special for ME is that I've heard it and can remember all the songs

That outro is chef's kiss

Blue, blue, blue
You make me blue
OOooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I never think of NFR as one of my favourite songs from Lana per se but it really is an exquisitely gorgeous, warm opener. brilliant lyricism at every turn that feels like it captured the national mood under Trump really eloquently. I think it could've gotten a proper single push and become one of her bigger streaming hits.

is it just WE THREE tonight? what a shame for such a CLASSIC album.

I love the title Norman Fucking Rockwell. It works for Lana especially as I feel she sings about an America that exists more in theory than reality

In retrospect, "Mariners..." being released a year before the rest of the album makes perfect sense. It took about that long to realize its brilliance.

Kiss the sky
And whisper to Jesus

'cos even in the dark I feel your resistance
you can see my heart burnin' in the distance
baby baby, baby, I'm your man

:disco:

such an utterly GORGEOUS song! maybe the biggest glow-up of this album is her new ability to write extremely tender melodies that feel equal parts sad and hopeful, and deliver them with warmth. I feel it has the more folksy warmth of Lust For Life vs. the emo chill of previous albums, but with more emotional depth added.

Mariner's Apartment Complex is a 10 for me, but it also took me a year to notice. I think the melodies of the verses are gorgeous. Also you took my sadness out of context seems like such a Lana mission statement

That's my favorite bit. It just melts.

I mean queen LDR had me shaking and crying (violently) in the corner when I first heard 'Mariners Apartment Complex' is all I'll say.

I don't know how to score Venice Bitch. the first half is good (although not my fave) but by the four minute mark it's already DRAGGING ON. I find the actual song content a bit lacking. nice swirly electronic things happening but I haven't taken enough LSD tonight to vibe to this for 9 hours.

gimme a (4, 3, 2, 1) EDIT!

You're in the yard, I light the fire
And as the summer fades away
Nothing gold can stay
You write, I tour, we make it work
You're beautiful and I'm insane
We're American-made

*drums kick in*

SLAY ME QUEEN.

It might effortlessly be her best melody ever.
