Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell (sync listen Sunday 8pm)

I'm Spotifying for the purposes of our syncéttéé but we all know that NFR! should ideally only ever be consumed on vinyl. That lush production of 'VEnice Bitch' really comes to life.
 
I've also noticed "Venice Bitch" is the one song from the album ("Doin Time" aside) that I've seen my "credible music only" "friends" in real life rave about.

"Fuck it I Love You" is one of the sexier Lana tracks, IMO - unpopular opinion, idk? It's all about the delivery and trippy production.
 
I can't say much about Venice Bitch because there's just SO MUCH I love about it. Every single thing about it is perfect. The lyrics, the instruments, the atmosphere... I could listen to it on repeat for hours - and have done!

Fuck It is not a fave either / not something I'd ever really choose to play but it has grown on me a bit.

It may not be a highlight as such but it's a cute little earworm and I think the only song that could have followed up 'Venice Bitch' really because we needed something a little more lightweight after that.

I had never heard the original when this came out, but she so makes it her own. Truly effortlessly cool
 
"Doin Time" felt a bit too jarring after she kind of transports you to another planet with Venice and FIILY, but I've kind of warmed to its placement on the album. The middle eight is everything.

Doin' Time is basically single handedly responsible for igniting phase two of my Lana standom and kicking it up a gear into FOREVER OBSESSION.

fucking killer song. I USED AND ABUSED throughout 2019 and still think it sounds fresh. she really made it sound like an LDR original, but one that feels a bit outside of her usual wheelhouse and all the better for it. hot summer smash!

Same. I wasn't sure about it at first but it is probably the most commercial thing on the album to be honest and every masterpiece needs that (yes I said it - NFR! is a masterpiece.)
