05. Wishing I Was There

A kaleidoscope of 90s imagery is going off. A take-off at every turn. Terrible totp performance though: just keep it "ah" and not an "aye" Nats.

05. Smoke

The hidden weapon alert - the cards she held here must have been so exciting for her and her team. Serenity reigns. I remember thinking this video was on par with Bjork's Hunter

06. Pigeons and Crumbs

Okay, this is actually why I started to listen to this album right now. Her crestfallen pure pop balladry finesse was definitely a strong point. Cranberries worthy at points, but so many moments are coming in and out of focus I'm just absolutely dazzled.

This was a proper standout when I saw her live last year. The crowd loved it

Interesting stat, but also nice to see the album cover picture in better quality, and the other fun photos in that very recent post! 😍💙
Funny to think 'Baby Nat' is my age now (same with Nelly Furtado last year; she also regards her debut album self as a baby, haha).

To be honest Torn and Smoke are the only songs from Left of the Middle that I've streamed :D but I might get the album itself and listen through instead. 💿🪄

As for Natalie Imbruglia CDs I do own so far, just Firebird a few months ago, and I tried to get a Shiver CD single (still her best overall song). ♡

Take "Torn" out of the equation and poor Nat's streaming numbers are MISERABLE

Only two other tracks crossing the 10m threshold - Shiver and Wrong Impression

STREAM MISERYFEST "GOODBYE" NOW

Oh Goodbye is just perfect. I'm pleasantly surprised to see Leave Me Alone as her 8th most popular at the moment. :o

In the mood for some sultry shivers:

And it was a bonus track on some LotM, so not totally off topic.

Kind of wish Corgan had done a whole album for her though.

I remember discovering this for the first time in the WLI era...that video just mesmerising and she just wrings every emotion out of every lyric just wow

Leave Me Alone is one of the highlights from her current live set list; she uses it as her "quirky" moment and leans into the psychedelic vibe of it all. Might have helped push it above some of her now-forgotten single releases.

Nice interview (and the inflatable sofa ) Edit: she forgot Lis Sørensen and Brændt (I actually like hers more)

Nat was 23 there, wow. She probably experienced a lot in the entertainment industry (dancing and acting anyway) before that. I like how she includes a variety on the album, which is like to be the case for tomorrow's Algorithm. 💛 🎶
