I had forgotten I met him once. He was very tall and very serious and called me "young chap".

Not that I followed him particularly closely, but I did find it quite surprising that he was able to hack the pace of bouncing between UK Strictly and US Dancing With The Stars for so long at his age - he only stepped back from the latter last year.

He was QUITE NASTY to potential winner and gay-favourite Kelly Brook when she struggled the week her dad had died which was a horrible thing to do as she was quite in distress and she ended up quitting after that night #never4get

I think he never liked Brendan so that probably didn't help.

He announced he was resigning on the series finale last November. Presumably so he could return to the UK for cancer treatment.

Len had a lot of quotes, but the most memorable is the Strictly Come Dancing "Seven!"

I'll never forget the time when Shangela pulled out a piece of fried chicken from her cleavage and gave it to him.

I did not realise that he was a last minute replacement for another judge and was suggested by Erin Boag.

He was certainly a big part of Strictly and was a great fit for the show, especially in the early days. Later on he seemed to get more grumpy and a bit meaner so I wasn't disappointed when he cut back to just the American gig. Saying this, I do think that the head judge role is tougher and held to a higher standard by the viewers than the others, as Shirley has found out at times.
