Lena Martell DEAD

I feel a UK #1 single qualifies you for your own thread, even if it’s a rather forgotten one.

Not forgotten by me. I loved it, and bought it myself at the age of 8 as an ex-jukebox single from the post office around the corner. The only single I can remember for sure buying myself before that was Cars by Gary Numan, but that was for my brother's birthday. So this was possibly the first single I bought for myself. Although I'd certainly had a whole heap of Brotherhood Of Man and The Dooleys stuff bought for me previously.

Oh "One Day At A Time" was ubiquitous when I was a wee yin. Radio Clyde played it constantly.

Oh she and Babs were on the same turf and Babs absolutely wanted it. When she got The Two Ronnies, it was job done.

I went to see her on her 'final' tour - only it just turned out to be her final tour with that band - which seemed a little bit misleading to me. I then did something I never do and went to get my programme signed and honestly I don't know why she bothers offering to do that she clearly hated it. I can't listen to her now. Team Lena.
