Lexxi-Mae Friday

That said - genuinely pleased that my office observed the silence and observed it well.

I will always observe the silence for the fallen. That's the moment for us to reflect. The rest of it? No thanks.

I tell you what though, if I was a teacher, I'd much rather be one in a council estate area with the fabulous names with a myriad of spellings, letters with accents and hyphens, rather than a middle class one where 75% of the children are called Olivia or Sophie, Oliver or Jack.

I did JOE WICKS WORKOUT this morning (the PROPER one not the kids PE shite) and it WENT WELL

:bruised:

In celebration of the ‘we won the war so let’s forget that our hero soldiers killed thousands if not millions of people’ day me and some more LIBERAL neighbours are going to sit on our front LAWNS and get DRUNK :disco::)

As much as I take the piss, the names I mentioned earlier aren't bad (I used to love the name Freya, until it was given to every child born since 2014), but working where I do I've seen every possibly misspelling and random hyphenation in an attempt to make them look unique and it really doesn't end up having that effect.

If she was following family tradition, she could have called her Phyllis or Edna
:D Those are ace names. My grandma was called Norma Winnifred, and she used to say her name was so horrible none of us would ever name our children after her. Especially cruel because her sister was called Estelle Caroline which is just pure class from beginning to end.

I like Alexandra...the good thing about it is that you have options: Alexandra, Alex, Sandra, Xandra, Lexxi, Lex...depending on who you want to be. You don't get that with "Claire", eh?

I’ve always liked Xander, but only my sister uses it :D

When I first started as an admin assistant in the DSS (I think it had just rebranded from DHSS), I used to process all the new child benefit claims. Even as an 18 year old I felt some of the cases I should be reporting immediately to social services for emotional abuse.

Have a word. There was a girl at my school called Emma who decided she wanted to make her name unique, so dropped one of the m's. Ema isn't even pronounced the same way.
A girl at my university did that. I referred to her as 'one em a', occasionally to her face.

There's always been extra hype for VE Day anniversaries. I suspect this one is all kind of extra due to Brexit Tories.

Probably the last significant anniversary before everyone who remembers it is dead, as well.

What do they think they're achieving? Another girl at my school was called Crystal, but chose to spell it Krystle...

Mind you it works both ways, one of my friends is called Allun because his Dad didn't know how to spell 'Alan' when he was registering him, but I much prefer Allun anyway.

I hope WW1 is cancelled now. That has truly passed. Very few still alive surely. The oldest guy is 110 so we're almost there.

I presume other countries have other awful commemoration days.

We just went for a walk and saw loads of houses with bunting, it was quite nice

I've quite enjoyed the rainbows in the windows. I don't mind a Royal bank holiday. At least we get a wedding rather than a WAR MEMORIAL.

I used to dream I had a different surname as well. One that a poster here has, in fact.

Listen, you're not kidding anyone, Septimus Rees-Mogg.
That said my SURNAME usually gets mistaken for a rather RUDE word

“The FUCKS residence, lady of the house speaking!”
