The charges in this case are bonkers. The hotel manager and receptionist for manslaughter. Can't imagine this would be happening if it wasn't such a high profile death.

That’s quite a stretch to get to manslaughter from that, especially his friend.
 
Whodunits must be over quite quickly in Argentina. Throw everyone who ever looked at the victim funny in jail, and give Miss Marple the chair while you're at it.

Judging by the likely sentences mentioned in that story, Argentina might consider manslaughter to be a touch less serious than many other places.
 
What if he’d drowned in the bath or something? Should the hotel manager be culpable for that too, knowing there’s a bath in a room with a vulnerable guest?
 
If he drowned in the bath, then we also arrest employees of the water company

The receptionist called the police prior to the fall stating that they were concerned for his safety and specifically noting the balcony.

Which sounded like he had likely been out on the balcony acting erratically by that point. Before he got in the room, probably not an immediate or obvious concern.

Exactly and it seems like the staff were aware of the potential danger and were trying to mitigate it by calling the police. To your point, just how much is the hotel (let alone just the receptionist) supposed to do - such a bizarre charge.
