That's right, to celebrate the release of the new Bond film why not join me for a playlist of the best Bond-related music around? Dust off your tuxedo and/or sexiest cocktail dress, strap on your Union Jack parachute and let me take you on a journey through rarities, oddities and marginalia - that's right, we will be focusing on the lesser-known corners of the 007 musical legacy. That includes covers, remixes, songs that were intended for use as movie themes but rejected/withdrawn, plus we'll take a detour into the bizarre world of spin-off Bond themes (including ones for videogames and even a NOVEL!). I can guarantee appearances from artists as diverse as -

  • Blondie!
  • Patti LaBelle!
  • Alice Cooper!
  • Geri Halliwell!
  • Mya!
  • kd lang!
  • Motiv8!
  • Radiohead!
  • Madonna!
  • Definitely NOT LULU!
  • And many many more!

Yes, it'll be on YouTube - I might make a Spotify version for later enjoyment, but it would have to be different/cut down as too many things aren't on there :(

I will try and avoid disappointment now by confirming that any theme song by the original artist will only be there in remixed form, otherwise this playlist is all covers and lesser known Bond-related music (with varying levels of connection to the film series). If that sounds like something you might enjoy, I'll see you there!

Although I will say that a Bond Themes Rate or Survivor, ending with a sync watch of the results, is a fantastic idea (not that I'd be much cop at trying to run it myself :tongueout:)

Not many people know that Joanna Dee's was built on top of a dormant underground volcano, but thank god it was since it's perfect for our theme :disco:
 
Well I must say a playlist of rarities and unreleased tracks simply isn’t complete without one the most famous entries this side of Goldfinger :eyes:

I'd just like to say You Know My Name is my favourite Bond song but I'm not expecting @COB to risk including it since it contains scenes of male vocals and guitars which some Moopists may find distressing.

I like it too! However it isn't going to be included because it doesn't fit my theme - both male vocals AND guitars do feature in this playlist though, more than some might be expecting :shock:

As the song says, it’s because they know his true name, which gives them tremendous power to work magic against him. The temptation eventually corrupts them and leads them to villainy.
