I was expecting Ace of Base, but those ghouls would have killed the mood. Fabulous playlist and I've put the series on my watch list for what comes next.

I would also like to credit this fantastic series of posts on Reddit, which I referred to quite a bit while researching and doing the write-ups:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Patti LaBelle - If You Asked Me To
I don't think this was ever in contention to be a main theme, but this gloopy but quite gorgeous Diane Warren number was the end credits song from Licence To Kill (1989). Legend has it Patti filmed this video either the day after or day OF her sister's funeral, and she definitely channels her emotions into a remarkable performance (the kicking off of the shoe moment is extremely iconic, to me at least). Later covered by Céline Dion on her 1992 self-titled album, and released as a single that became a Canadian chart-topper.

I love how the Celine Dion version of this is just 'What if literally the exact same thing... but white?"

*peaks 74 places higher in the charts*

Oh DARLING if only you’d tagged MARTHA SHIT. Just last week she was extolling the virtues of TINA TURNER’S “BROWNEYE” so I expect she’d have been FOAMING AT THE FLAPS to get on board with this DEBACLE xxx

FINALLY made it - sorry I'm late

Lovely playlist - some juice cuts that I was hoping were there, like Motiv8
Some great covers from that Shaken & Stirred album, I definitely have that ripped somewhere. Some other good covers too, like Mel C and Glennis (NOT GERI RUBBISH!)

Rejected Bond Songs are always a bit fascinating, especially when they aren't advertised but the "Bond song" genre is so specific that it's hard to cover up. I don't think I'd heard that Ace of Base one with those lyrics, I only knew The Juvenile from Da Capo :o

Sort of a shame some of those potentials never made it, but they always seemed to be when there was an iconic theme already in place. Thunderball was a bit shit though, and dare I say it Pulp too.

I think Bond Themes have gone a bit off the boil, I think I liked the film Skyfall more, and it just felt like a bit of a relief to have the first traditional Bond Song since Garbage, but it's not really that interesting is it? That said, I do love the Casino Royale one that sort of follows the 80s theme timeline, and Billie Eilish's is great too.

The real revelation though was the computer game ones with their intros - fascinating!

Wonderful work dear sister @COB

Did you all talk about your favourite canonical Bond movie songs? That's TOUGH!

I do love some of the 80s gloop like For Your Eyes Only. In fact that run from Licence to Kill to You Know My Name is pretty legendary

These Glennis and Menly covers are by the book but GORGEOUS. Menly really was a GOWN moment though, not a black apron

Oh and I don't think we really needed another Shirley Bassey song, but surely the QoS one would have been better than the no-mark Jack & Alicia one
