being announced this week and set to be a white vinyl apparently :disco: I may need this
 
Unless it’s deluxe, I’ll stick with my Sainsbury’s version
 
Do we know what happened to this? I presumed they paused it to let the Christmas album do its thing, but I thought we'd have had it by now! I think it's my favourite Kylie album.
 
Don’t know why I seem to have forgotten to get Aphrodite and KMO
Must rectify
 
I bought the lot in the end- will flog my Sainbury's version and my KMO as it's unopened...

Yep, as much as I enjoyed some of the material, I was always a bit shocked at how 'cheapo' it sounded.
 
It was a joke about the production. Clearly fell flat.

No idea if they are remasters or not.
 
There is just something about white vinyl, or pastel shades vinyl that is so very lovely. I have a Sparks that is the milkiest baby blue and it is so very gorgeous. I got Fever on white vinyl. Apparently I also have Body Language on Red Vinyl and that is entirely news to me so I must have just bought that and put it away without playing it because I have no memory of that at all but it's on my spreadsheet!
 
Ordered LY from Fnac so should be here next week, got X blue variant from her store which means a September delivery might be an optimistic possibility. Already owning the original pressings of the other two, so no need to grab reissues when offering nothing new/ upscaled.
 
Just listened to my Light Years vinyl and it's ever so slightly muffled throughout, but the main issue is strong sibilance during Please Stay. The 's' sounds are slurred. Apparently this was on the original vinyl version too. Overall it's a decent pressing though.

Aphrodite sounds better than I remember/was expecting.

Kiss me once is mediocre at best but there's a handful of keepers on it. Aphrodite was a couple of killer singles and the rest just felt like abysmal filler.

Aphrodite feels so much more concise to me. I love how consistent the album is as a whole, whereas KMO suffered from the same problem almost every Kylie album had post-Fever (with Body Language being the major exception): it feels more like a random collection of songs than a cohesive album. And having, like, 1.5 proper singles certainly didn’t help. Sia being the executive producer was a wtf move.

I could fangirl for hours about Aphrodite, though. The title track, All the Lovers, Get Outta My Way (one of my favorite Kylie singles EVER), Cupid Boy (the layers on that song are honestly insane), Can’t Beat the Feeling… and that’s not even getting into the live versions.

I was lucky enough to see her during the Aphrodite tour, and I’m pretty sure I was found d*ad after the Feeling/LAFS mashup. 😮‍💨

I have to agree with you, Aphrodite for me is one of her most cohesive albums. The only weak track on there for me is Looking For An Angel - the rest are all at least 7/8 out of 10. And Mighty Rivers is one of her best ever bonus tracks….shoulda been on the main album!
 
Looking For An Angel is marvellous :disco:

It’s a very cohesive album, but there’s a handful of tracks I don’t care for. But they seem to stick out less due to it being so cohesive compared to the KMO or X ones I don’t like.
 
Kiss Me Once is an ok album and I like quite a few of the tracks but I can’t remember the last time I actively played it

I think Aphrodite has higher highs (obv) but some of it is really boring and flat. pretty much an album of two halves for me.

there's some real DIRGE like Put Your Hands Up, Cupid Boy, Too Much and Can't Beat the Feeling that were straining way too hard to be Kylie classics but without any of the effortlessness or joy. but I love all the singles (including Better Than Today), title track, Illusion, Looking For an Angel, Everything is Beautiful...

I don't think the producers (including Stu) did a great job overall with the production or with her voice.

I would've said for a while KMO is the better album and in a way I think it's more imaginative/trying to be something more, but it just sounds a bit... small. Feels So Good, If Only and Into the Blue are the ones for me but there are stinkers too and it feels very "made an album because it was time".
 
and needless to say, the eternal #1 in my heart...



is it her best "unreleased" song ever? is it her BEST SONG EVER? maybe.
 
I would actually say that Aphrodite is probably her most underrated post-resurgence era album.

KMO feels like a fever dream in retrospect. The whole era was just a misstep really.
