Little things about Lockdown that you miss.

I wish I'd been here for that period really, because this place has already give me such a nice mood boost (translate: you're stuck with me now) and I can tell there was a really strong sense of community during that time. But I wasn't online. I wasn't speaking to anyone, or doing anything.

But in an oddly bittersweet way, that's where the magic happened. The pandemic gave me an opportunity, once and for all to stick a mirror up to myself and own all of my ugliness. In the midst of it all, I found and made peace.

So anyway, what do I miss? I miss that peace. The quiet, the stillness. Ultimately would I want it back? Of course not, but it was a moment in time that I needed to stimulate my own growth. A strange, ugly moment in time. Nowadays, my peace is in chaos, much as it always was. Only it's a much more bearable chaos now.
 
I think a lot of us were very grateful for moopy during that time, and glad that we could fall into already established relationships and community. It's something we already had - we didn't need to create a new way to socialise like a lot of people had to do.

It was so fabulously heightened. There was always something going on. I ran four or five sync events and that was so much fun.
 
the sync listens and absolutely nothing else!

it's funny, it all ended less than 2 years ago here but it feels like another lifetime. people move on so quickly. makes me worry for the NEXT pandemic.

I really thought wearing masks on public transport would become the norm, but NOPE. The only real change from that time is the push to working from home, everything else really does feel it's just same old.
 
thank god for work from home. that is probably the best consequence of life post covid. I can't imagine going back to daily office life. I would have to go freelance once and for all just for the wfh.
 
Do we think we will ever end up in another lockdown situation in our lifetimes?

Agreed. People will stay home if they think that they or their children are personally at risk of dying
 
if there is a military junta that somehow effects all of us, which sync listen should we do first?

Listening to Infinite Disco, and this sort of thing, I wouldn't say I actively MISS, but I did really enjoy and thought they would take off after the pandemic, although they haven't.

Livestreaming gigs and events I would have thought was an easy money win (charge £10 per "ticket", but you're not limited by capacity), put a show on in a studio rather than booking a whole venue out, and you save there too. They made for a really nice evening in and I would happily do it again for another act if I didn't fancy paying the extortionate fee to go in person...

Yes, I'm kind of OVER arena and stadium gigs now, and would gladly pay a tenner plus for this kind of experience.

I wonder if acts are worried that it would cannibalise ticket sales? Because to me they seem quite different experiences and I don't think they would.

gigs are just so lucrative. if you can get 10k people into a venue paying £50 each that's an easy 500k in revenue. and costs themselves are probably minimal if you're not an arena artist putting on a big production.

if you can do that for 5-10+ dates (in the UK alone) you'll make so much more money than a one-off livestreamed show for which you need to rehearse, hire a venue/create a studio space, and sell 3-5x as many tickets at £10-20 each just to make the same amount of money as one live show. it's a massive undertaking.

I really liked that artists like Kylie and Ellie Goulding found creative ways to put on shows like that during the pandemic. but the demand for live music has never been higher than it is right now, so I can't see those streaming one-off shows coming round again.
 
Yes, I suppose they serviced a purpose when there was no real alternative. And probably also helped drive demand for the real thing when it was possible again.
 
Gourmet Restaurant Delivery Boxes and the nice shit I bought for my kitchen because I wasn't spunking it all on socialising.
